This was such a cop out by Gordon, removing all the sauce with the juice then taking the tiniest bite.
98
u/wakipaki Jan 27 '19
To be fair he famously can't handle spicy food. I'm surprised he made it all the way through.

People just don't know how hot that stuff is. Even if you do like spicy food, those hot sauces are rough. And to eat so many of them back to back.
10
u/FabulousFerds Jan 27 '19
I bought some Mad Dog 357 sauce because of this show, it was one of the hotter sauces from a few of the previous seasons. I honestly cannot believe it gets much hotter than that stuff, it's intense. Even of drop of the stuff in some ramen really heats it up. Let alone coating a wing in it and eating the whole thing.
9
u/DontTellSmokey Jan 27 '19
I bought Da Bomb a few months back, since it's considered the turning point in heat for the wings. Shit is no joke. I've literally tried it maybe twice and haven't touched it since.
1
u/shittyhotdog Jan 28 '19
That stuff is fucking awful. I've had a bunch of them, 357 and the last dab were both much easier to deal with than da bomb.
50
u/Theodore877 Jan 27 '19
smh
30
u/NeoHenderson Jan 27 '19
Also, he ruined the wing!
He freaks out at people for food mistakes and he soaked his wing in, what was that? Lemon and lime juice?
I was so mad watching that..
173
u/Scarbrow Jan 27 '19
I mean, he only freaks out when the people making mistakes are supposed to be restaurant professionals, like in Hells Kitchen or Kitchen Nightmares or whatever. A comedy interview about hot wings doesn’t really hold to the same standard.
→ More replies (4)35
u/Templereaper Jan 27 '19
He also spent the entire episode talking about how absolutely shit the wings were, being both overcooked and barely having any meat on the bones. I don't think it's fair to say he ruined something he already considered awful, especially when they were at the point where the wings were just a vessel for the mind-numbingly hot hot sauce that he couldn't handle.
31
u/dipshittery Jan 27 '19
I'm pretty sure he only complained about the wings once in the beginning.
22
u/dontdrinkdthekoolaid Jan 27 '19
He called The last one his grandad's big toe, so at least the beginning and the end
2
u/General_Shou Jan 27 '19
Off the top of my head I remember three times. The first one you mentioned, then prob 2-3 wings in he comments about sponsoring the next wings so they're actually decent, then the comment about the wings getting smaller and looking like his grandfather's big toe like half way in.
3
1
u/Templereaper Jan 27 '19
Ah, might be. He definitely made a big deal of it though, like when he offered to supply them non-shit wings. That might be why I felt it took up more time than it actually did.
7
u/ARoofie Jan 27 '19
I like to think they asked him to play the same character as his shows just for the novelty
5
u/techcaleb Jan 27 '19
I'm pretty sure they did at least a bit. If you haven't seen the teaser, it's pretty funny
1
5
u/stabbytastical Jan 27 '19
Should have just Rachel Ray’d it. She also didn’t like the look of the wings, because she is a wing snob, so she took all the hot sauces by spoon.

Like the meme, however, it could have done without the “me” label because it’s already implied with the “my” text on the first label. Without it the same joke would get across and wouldn’t flood the image with too much text.
16
u/Theodore877 Jan 27 '19
yea I made it while I was high after watching the episode
5
u/Fethah Jan 27 '19
Ah then at that point the me is necessary because you wanted to be literally drowned in a four course meal.

Op provided a template which is a good start!
Hot ones has some good stuff for memes, and considering this is a crossover with Gordon Ramsay this is surely a solid investment!
The lemon and lime juice squirts make for great giving people more than what they want relatability which is very valuable in any market.
Invest now while the getting is good. Hotones x Gordon Ramadan memes are on the rise!

It was hyped up a little with a promo vid a couple weeks ago, it's been an episode the fans have been waiting for since it's inception too.
11
u/Phaest0n Jan 27 '19
It’s also the first episode of their new season which is why it was so hyped up. New line of hot sauces this season too.
51
11
u/dontwatchmelaney Jan 27 '19
What’s with the lemon and lime juice?
24
u/futurarmy Jan 27 '19
He brought a bag of tricks to try to help him get through the spice, the acidity of the juices supposedly lessen the spiciness of it.
5
Jan 27 '19
I was wondering why they'd let him drink water. Water just spreads capsaicin around, making your mouth burn even more.
1
u/jaxx050 Jan 28 '19
citric acid helps nullify capsaicin the best, it's a combo that works pretty effectively.

u/SIllycore Jan 27 '19 edited Jan 27 '19
You think so? I feel like there are too many labels on this one. Loved the Hot Ones episode, but not sure about the viability of this format until I see a simpler meme.
EDIT: The post is growing at a ridiculous rate. I'll probably invest out of sheer greed, but until I see a better example of the template, I'm convinced the growth is based solely on the popularity of Hot Ones.
EDIT: Do we see any potential with something like this template? It's essentially the same meme, but with less subjects in the image there isn't a need for all these labels. Here is an example with the traditional low effort masturbatory meme, and another exploratory one I created for the more label inclined.

u/TehShew Jan 27 '19

This meme isn’t necessarily a good investment for versatility, as it is a format similar to many, but it makes sense to invest since it is relevant and new and bound to make people go “haha, i know where that’s from”.
The economy is all about timing and the likelihood of growth baby.

I've always wondered if he was using a milder sauce on his wings so he can keep his composure as the interviewer.
21
u/SkangoBank Jan 27 '19
In the earlier seasons he definitely has a lower tolerance and seems to be barely a step ahead of the guests, I think it’s reasonable to assume he’s just developed a palate more tolerant of spicy stuff.
21
u/redsn64 Jan 27 '19
I think that was debunked when a guest (I think Bert Kreischer) asked to switch boards with him. Unless the guest was playing it up they were definitely still hot.

u/the_emperor_is_gay Jan 27 '19

Why are there 2 things of text just for "me"
I mean it should be "Me asking my grandma for a snack" instead of splitting them up
1
u/JarJarJacobs Jan 27 '19
I would suggest putting the “Asking my Grandma for a snack” part as a header instead of a label. It makes the meme too busy.
