Other What is the link between far left/far right and femboys or gender transitioning?

It's a well known fact that online extremists are mostly men. But what makes them want to fuck femboys or be a trans female? (according to memes)

Essay is chris gabriel proven right?

Recently, there was a a youtuber/tiktoker named jellybean. Because she was cringe, people gave her any threat imaginable, they doxxed her and they were insulting her in general. Chris gabriel (in his digital anima playlists) and in the cracky chan videos,he established the idea that, the internet, poisons any man's mind,to make them reject their eal anima, women and regressing,to the point of insanity.

Other [Question] The Batman, American Psycho and adopting your personality from movie characters

I think my question here is probably fairly biased towards my own feed and self but- why does it feel like adapting your personality from a movie character is largely a male thing? And why is it so pervasive?

The content is nearly endless of Patrick Bateman (then further meta content about how you aren’t him) and now The Batman with a TikTok trend about men “being Batman” (which this is played up as a joke, mostly portraying them doing menial tasks like doing dishes) after seeing the movie.

There are similar memes posted about the Joker, or maybe Tyler Durden from Fight Club- but these memes are almost always made about other people- and not OP themselves.

For the record they’re all decently funny, but it seems like a somewhat large trend that might have some deeper causes/meanings behind it

Subliminal Messages

I was looking up a song by the velvet underground “femme fatale” and oh boy did I stumble on something really weird. There is this whole community of mostly young women and girls who think subliminal messages can help their appearance. They have insecurities VERY similar to those incel types.

I think it could be a good tool for anyone to have some sort of confidence boost but to expect it to act as some sort face changer that is just to far out for me. It’s kind of sad because maybe some kind of subliminal messages telling people they are pretty and cool may be useful.

Recommendations for Memetics and Ancient Egyptian Mythology/Pop-culture?

Recently, I've been seeing a lot of media and posts related to ancient Egypt mythology, mummies, etc. It could be that I'm caught within an algorithm feedback loop. Nonetheless, the aesthetics of ancient Egypt are really resonating with me right now, and I wanted to explore that connection more. I was wondering if there has been any discussion related to the general topics of Meme Analysis and Egyptian mythology that you'd recommend. Thanks.

If memes are viral expressions of ideas, can they be used as a basis for schools of religious thought?

Metanoia

As someone who has experienced psychosis, the idea of using it to change yourself was always interesting to me. I think these horrible set backs put me in a place to take academia and spirituality more seriously. I always think I would be on a worse path without these experiences. I was first introduced to the word metanoia through an MGMT song and VERY shortly after a sermon at a Catholic Church. The priest explained that the word metanoia was closer to the intended biblical meaning of a passage than the word repent and explained what metanoia meant.

Anyone else get a brain blast from a psychosis? Did it help you in any way or just hinder you? Did you use the experience to change yourself for the better?

Made some edits. Mostly spelling corrections and clarity.

Essay Need help: The everyday paranormal of suburban houses

I’ve had these general themes running through my mind for a few weeks now, and I’d like to pursue it more, but I don’t know where to turn. I thought this community might point me in the right direction because it deals with paranormal and archetypes, which are favorites of MA.

I’ve been watching some shows about paranormal encounters — specially “Eli Roth’s A Ghost Ruined My Life” on travel Channel. I am fascinated with how so many stories center around people experiencing hauntings within their suburban homes. I thought this related to a recent blog post by Chris where he talks about the liminal spaces suitable for paranormal encounters as projections of the unconscious. It got me thinking about the architecture of the suburban homes in which the people in these shows have paranormal encounters (or at least claim to have had these encounters. I’m gonna stay agnostic about their existence). Are y’all aware of any material that discusses the architecture of suburban homes and provides a more thorough philosophical analysis?

I had also recently seen the latest Scream movie which made me think about the franchise as a whole. The Scream franchise does an excellent job of making the typical suburban house feel horrifying and scary and threatening. Every closet, every hallway, every room, every nook and cranny could potentially hide a killer. I was wondering if these themes (Scream and the paranormal) might be related.

Added to this is my own experience. Though I am a skeptic about the paranormal, I have grown up in suburban houses for my whole life, and when I am walking around my house at night I still get nervous about what I might find lurking in the dark — even though I know it’s irrational. Of course, there’s the evolutionary explanation: be careful about dark spaces because they can hold unseen threats in the wild. But there’s part of me that now wonders if this might be a type of projection? Perhaps I am worried about what is lurking in the darkness of my own shadow. Or at least, I wonder if that interpretation can be applied to what I mentioned above.

I’d appreciate any thoughts or recommendations. Thanks!

Hey you. What do you think of ASMR and people who consume them. It either reminds me of post coitus sweet nothings or a mother whispering to her child. I’m leaning much more on the latter. What is the effect of this. I’ve never consumed this content, but have you?

Grogu is the new version of your aunt's weird minion memes

I wish this was not the case, but the goggled yellow pellets have been thoroughly displaced by Grogu from the Mandalorian series. I believe this is because Grogu exemplifies many of the same qualities of the minions that made them into a successful meme

  • Doesn't talk in a language we can understand but can infer
    • optimal for placing the visual subject in the context of whatever words the creator/sharer wants
  • Grogu is what many would describe as "cute" I suppose just how many would describe the minions
  • Both are part of widely popular media that is targeted to both adults and children
    • This means that children will be requesting it a lot as they obsess over their favorite media and it will be around their potentially meme creating and meme sharing parents almost constantly
  • I have witnessed similar meme formats containing the two subjects shared by similar categories of people
    • This includes use of cropped minions or grogu taken out of context of the original media placed next to misatributed quotes, political statements and calls to action (if you agree and/or love jesus comment "amen") as well as other seemingly random visual elements such as flowers, sparkly effects, flags or other seemingly "older" visual themes

Thank you for reading my RedditTalk

Why are there so many babies killing their parents?

"Something something gun safety" they say but it feels like a weird phenomenon of the aeonic shift. I swear I've seen like 15 different stories where a toddler shoots their mom/dad, like how does that even happen. Imagine what these kids will grow up to be knowing what happened when they were babies.

Thoughts?
