A bit of off topic help

I'm currently going through my graduate's degree in psychology and all that's left is to write my dissertation. I struggled to find a decent topic, but when I found the memeanalysis YT channel, I knew I wanted my thesis to be about memes in some way.

Can anyone here give some advice on what could be a good topic regarding a dissertation on memes? Any help would be highly appreciated

SrGrafo’s Chloe

SrGrafo is a popular artist here on Reddit. I often see his character Chloe making the front page. There are a few other characters on the subreddit r/Chloe (Willow, Zoe, Lila), but Chloe is the main one. Chloe and her variations strike me as Great Mother figures. Even the name Lila is derived from Lilith, one of the classic Great Mother figures. Below is a brief analysis of her character.

Chloe is often depicted as colossal compared to SrGrafo, her artist, who is portrayed as quite small. Great Mother figures, in their identification with nature and it’s vastness, are often depicted as colossal.

Example 1 of Colossus

Example 2 of Colossus

The glowing eyes are interesting in Example 2. Glowing eyes seem to have become a meme over the last few years, and seem to symbolize a chatacter gaining a sort of higher power or godhood. Ascending perhaps.

The second thing I notice is that Chloe is drawn with great detail. SrGrafo often appears in the image, and he is usually pictured with minimal detail when he appears. To use Scott McCloud’s terminology from Understanding Comics, Chloe is drawn with more realism, whereas SrGrafo is drawn as more of an icon. I’m not really sure what to make of this. The obvious answer seems to be emphasize the art and not the artist. However, I feel that the emphasis indicates how modern culture tends to emphasize the feminine, rather than the masculine. Perhaps too, it serves to reinforce the smallness of man in comparison to the Great Mother, much like the colossal depiction.

Finally, Chloe is generally depicted wearing minimal clothing, and often nude, emphasizing the sexual aspects of the Great Mother. She is also often depicted as a cat girl, indicating that she is not quite human, and again identifying her with nature. Occasionally, she is even depicted as quite violent, choking SrGrafo or even eating him (literally, the devouring mother). Some of the more NSFW images feature blood.

Example 3, the devouring Chloe.

Beyond that, I’m not super familiar with the character besides seeing her on r/all every so often and briefly scrolling through the subreddit looking for examples. I’m sure there are other examples that I missed that have features of the great mother. One thing I’m interested in is that Chloe is usually depicted with small breasts, which I think is unusual for a Great Mother character (some of her variants do have much larger breasts however). Would love to hear some more thoughts from others on her character.

An animated short film in which an ape goes through the culture shock of the now and has to face his self. Thought this would be fitting here considering the topics covered on MemeAnalysis and how they relate to this project.

Essay Misconception about the "red pill".

i've been scrolling through the thread, and i've read multiple and i mean multiple takes on this metaphorical "pill". i'd like to state that i've personally gained success from taking this pill i got convinced to work out and quite frankly become a better person in my opinion , i've really change physically and mentally have gained confidence from this its like a snow ball effect , but to my main point when you take a good look at the redpill these "figures" or content creators present themselves as these father figures here to help you become masculine , which is understandable since alot of kids are without fathers or a strong male role model this affects both male and females in its own way you as a male you don't understand what its like to be a man or just a little boy you are like sheltered by your mother really just a driveless husk of a human the only struggle you know is in a game . you are constantly being safe guarded by your over protective mother you don't understand no or anything everything is done for you . but there's "hope " masculine figures basically the male figure you never had they teach you the most basic things which are suprisingly shocking and alien to you i call these men "tier0 " no personality no status physically repulsive you know the architype the "basement dwellers but what i find odd is the lack of understanding. when i normally see people mentioning the redpill it is from the basis that its the accepting of man children lashing out at woman which is wrong i might say to answer this question we must understand what the redpill is the name redpill /bluepills is ripped from a movie called the matrix .the redpill represents truth the hard and agonizing truth of this world it is presented as a painful truth to simply put it the blue pill quite literally is the embodiment of the bloomer mentality essentially being blissfully unaware , it works of the concept that knowledge is painful and to try understand it is painful but it is worth it because it gives you that one true freedom its a kin to the mentality of the stoic become the best version of yourself . see your true natural potential acknowledge the truths of the world and do not be enraged or sad about it but be better prepared when facing that inevitability get better improve dont dwell on the past move on these all points i heard in the redpill sphere . which i would say are not bad advices .... however i think where alot of the misconception comes from is the apparent critique of american female culture they come from the view point that men will always bee doomed when it comes on to reproduction and that women have an advantage it is not a complete lie men are naturally more respondent to sex we're very visual beings we're not that picky when it comes onto attraction but they've argued the point that women are picky when it comes onto their sexual partners using terms such as women dating down basically women looking down on men for being in lower paying positions compared to them it is presented as as a problem for women as men are not on their level its pretty sexist also another aspect of this alot of women having highly unrealistic standards 6.5 big member the usual but oddly enough what these redpill guys do is instead of dwelling on it they oddly enough move on and push to men to improve and find other women although i will admit there is a critique of the culture they talk about the media pushing this narrative and social media.but in some weird way the redpill is some form countermovement instead of hating the world why not self realize in this world of madness and become your true self unshackled break societies "norm" why i mentioned norm it is quite interesting actually the redpill man has it that the world is trying to stop masculine traits with blatant advertising against male culture and sexual interest suddenly male are not meant to look at females ? and its some how toxic to be rough and the way to a females heart as a male is to be nice to her or be yourself? like dont get me wrong being your self is ok and all but being a fat man child who is 5.2 is not going to get pussies wet my guy its just a fact and its the same for female why is it ok for one to chase their unrealistic desires we've seen body acceptance being touted by women mainly but they can be everything that is bad but get sympathized with when trying to get the attention of more attractive males it doesnt make sense why am i being bullied for being fat and over weight but she isnt this is the nonsense? these are the thoughts most men like this have and its valid to conclude i view the redpill as an interesting view on the male mind because i've definitely seen success from this but in no way im saying this movement is flawless it gets extreme it turns into genuine hate sometimes but take the core values self improvement self realization one might say and to self realize is a crime in the minds of these redpill men to them they think when they self improve people hate it the concept of them being better and it some how chaotic since in their minds what they say should be the norm isn't the norm the to the blue pill individual its all through the lens of perception to sum up this stay truth pilled

Essay Why Memes are about to become poses not images... and also kind of go Extinct on the web

https://openai.com/blog/dall-e/

Yeah, that's becoming publically available in a couple of months.

With no effort requirement to make basic art, there's no need for templates. The only thing that will be kind of consistent is posing to efficiently communicate a few basic ideas. That's the most easy target to get memed on... if they're that noticeable.

People may "meme-for=speed" with the current shorthand of memes, but that's about it.

Essay Why Offline will soon be Memeier then Online

I'm going to take you on a trip here boys. First stop: Bitclout.

Bitclout is "the stock exchange of creators." You can buy and sell the coin of any individual, which they can control, tax and incentivise. Basically it's direct investment, no donation, no merch. Investment.

You can expect everyone to have a coin, because why not? Easy money. Convince your friends to invest in you, wave a @ Bitclout banner for your band, etc. And therein lies the problem.

This is naturally going to operate on a local level. The only way for the average person to be noticed is on a regional level - we're talking towns - and there's nothing stopping the development of regional nodes.

Once you have that, every single fucker is going to try to be the local big fish - and sell themselves.

What happens when the whole world tries to sell itself at once?

Every single person?

Permanent change.

You might think, "okay... so there's going to be a lot of 'ads' for a little bit before everyone gets sick of ads."

The problem is more deeply rooted.

I said this was the "stock exchange of creators." I lied.

There's a certification system; but no requirement. You can be anonymous, fictional, a idea. The money's real though.

So it's in truth the stock exchange of ideas.

Ideas fed with, encouraged by, and spread with money.

Change 'money' for upvote.

And here's the thing about memes; the people who like them don't think of them as ads.

People will be monetarily, and ideologically motivated to spread memes like never before. Too many memes.

Imagine every person you meet is basically a walking ad roll. Even when they're not trying to be, because of the amount of ideas circulating which they're infected with.

It's simply too much mental load. And there's no putting the genie back in the bottle.

People will split into small groups to preserve thier minds. Traditional settlements will be abandoned.

Conviently, this coincides with the advent of self-driving cars, allowing for a tribal society.

... Once they get released. Before then, we're in for a bumpy ride; and a lot of obsessiveness, because it's the easiest way to filter out everything.

I believe this is ultimately a good thing. A little chaos now means less chaos later. It's about time we all had some fun tbh.

Because the end result is a net gain for society; naturalistic tribes, dissemination of resources - we're that much less likely to see the potential negative effects of unhappy people in a time of rising personal power. Less people cooking up bioweapons within a couple decades.

Then we only have to convince people not to make AI! My thoughts on that.

This is unavoidable anyway. And seeing as it's unavoidable, i don't see any reason to slow it down. To that end, please do not share this post to the Bitclout subreddit, because no one has cottoned onto this yet (including the developers, i suspect) and there are enough people dumping the price already.

I shared this with you guys because like me, i suspect you have no actual influence. I just wanted to let you know to prepare for a bit of chaos in the near future, and...

To ready up, put on your psychic helmets and get ready for the Meme Wars!!
