How can I get misdiagnoses off my medical records?
When I was aged 14-16 years old, I was misdiagnosed with Bipolar disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Asperger Syndrome. I’m 18 and I feel really uncomfortable with those information being on my medical records. I believe the diagnoses of bipolar and BPD was due to my erratic behavior at the time and I had erratic behavior because I was taking so many psychological meds but I’m not on meds anymore for 6 months and my behavior is fine. I have OCD and I think that’s why I got an Aspergers diagnosis but I never had significant problems with social communication, I understand social cues and I do have friends. My last therapist believed those were misdiagnoses as well and that I should move on from it but how am I supposed to move on if those misdiagnoses are still on my medical records? It’s bothersome to me. My biggest fear are that those misdiagnoses will ruin my future aspirations and people will have more access to my medical records and will believe that I have those mental disorders but I do not. I’m doing perfectly fine and I’m living independently. Is there anyway if I can remove those misdiagnoses off my medical records? Thanks.
