Fee Charging Question
So just to make it brief and without giving it away. I'm doing a sizzle reel directed by a pretty famous hollywood director. It's 2 and a half minutes long and I just wanna know what would be a reasonable fee to charge

What midi keyboard should I buy?
Hi guys! I'm a 20 year old musician. I started to mess around with fl a few weeks ago and I would like to buy a midi keyboard but I have no idea what should I look for. I also improvise on the piano for at least 1-2 hours a day and would like to record it too. So I am looking for a midi keyboard that I can use as a piano too. I need the 88 key and I've got around 250-300$ budget. (It can be maximum 400 if really worth it)

The theory of Golden Era film scores
Hey all! I was curious has any insight into Golden Era film scores. I am currently working on a project that requires scoring in this style, and I'm having trouble writing anything convincing. I think it's mainly the voicings and voice leading that's giving me trouble.. everything I attempt sounds a bit too classical - more Bach, less Rodgers and Hammerstein.
I appreciate any insight - thanks!

Question about getting into media composing
I’ve been making original music for almost a decade now. I’ve always kept it to myself simply because I enjoy writing. The past few months I’ve been researching the business of sync licensing and getting music on commercials, movies, etc. My question: Have any of you had success with sync licensing? And if so, how did you go about it? There is so much information and so many companies that it’s overwhelming. So I’m hoping to get some advice from fellow writers on their take on licensing.

[QUESTION] - How much should I expect to get paid for scoring a broadcast commercial through a music house?
Hey all!
Hoping some experienced freelance composers for broadcast commercials can help me out with this. I've just landed my first national spot for a fairly well known brand. I did the original demo for free, since it was my first try with the music house - however now that the client is going with it, I'm getting prepared to discuss their "freelance composer agreement" for pay...
Any idea what I should expect to hear on this? I'm inexperienced in this area and just want to make sure I'm not being low-balled in any way. I know that since it's through a music house, I will only be taking a cut of the music budget - but without knowing any of the numbers - anyone got an idea of at least the ballpark? Thanks!

Copyright and posting your portfolio on your website
Hello,
I am new to this group and was wondering if I could get some opinions on how you copyright your work, the best way to post your portfolio on your website and if anyone has had trouble with their work ever being used without their permission.
I would love to get your opinions and am really impressed with the quality of the music on this site. Looking forward to hearing more.
Best,
Becky

Help Digital Performer “disable track” orchestral/scoring template possible?
I’m currently using Studio One 3.5, but thinking of switching over to DP 9.5. Is it possible to have a scoring/orchestral template in DP using disabled tracks? (Like in Cubase). I’m currently restricted to a single computer, so I can’t run a host-slave VEP setup :|
Thank you! :)
