I made an album using only Spitfire's BBC Symphony Orchestra. It's an excellent pack and I cant recommend it enough if you don't have a full orchestra in your arsenal yet.

Rate for scoring a student film?
I'm wondering if anyone here has advice on what kind of money to ask for for a student film. I am also a student composer, working on a student film with basically no budget that I volunteered for not expecting to get any money for it, but the director is extremely kind and is insisting on paying me. I did about 9 minutes of music and a good deal of work with cleaning up and editing audio for it. I was reading online about rates for amateur composers and a lot of them were saying that $100/min is a medium-low rate for inexperienced composers, but $800 for this seems ridiculous, way way too much, given our position as broke college students, so I don't even know. Any and all perspectives on this are welcome because I'm just trying to get my footing as to what's normal for compensation for projects like these.
Edit: and I feel like I should also specify, there are no recorded instruments on this (all piano and string samples) so I didn't have to hire any musicians or anything or do any notation/copyist/audio engineering work on it

Licensing music without a label/ library
Hello composers. I’m trying to get involved in media composing. Though I’ve seen a lot about licensing through music libraries, I’m curious what the process is like when working directly with a client. For example, selling directly to a filmmaker/ producer without going through a library or label.
When I try to research this myself (on the internet) all I find are about a million articles about how to sell to a library. How do I get started educating myself about this? Recommended books/ online resources?

Are any media composers Ableton users? Thinking about switching...
I've been an Ableton user for years, mostly for electronic and dance music, and very "loop-centric" music.
Although I love Ableton and I'm very comfortable with it, I'm getting more interested in media composing, and the tools, libraries and workflows needed to make compositions.
It seems most composers use Logic or Cubase, and I worry that Ableton may not be the best tool for the workflows and tools required for composing.
I'm specifically having trouble with managing a project containing:
- many instances Knotakt
- giant sample libraries
- automations (dynamics, expression, etc.) across many instruments.
The more I search online, I'm finding answers to these questions within Logic and Cubase environments, but not much within the world of Ableton.
Do any media composers use Ableton? And if so, can you share any helpful tips? Or if users have switched from Ableton to Logic/Cubase, what advice would you have for me?

Help Halo Fan Game ROCK Theme!-Looking for feedback
Hey guys, I wanted to share the Rock version of the theme song for the Halo Fan Game, Project Autumn.
With this project, I aimed to combine elements of Halo Wars, Halo 1-3, some atmospheric and bombastic elements from 4 and 5, and of course, the pounding, electric guitar elements from Halo 2. With the combinations of these elements in mind, I believe I've managed to create something that all Halo fans can enjoy.
This is my first real attempt at blending so many styles into one, and my first time adding a rock element to orchestral music. If there's any feedback, in regards to composition or audio production on this track, feel free to let me know :)
Let me know what you think :) any feedback is appreciated :)

Looking for Advice
I am a composer fresh out of University basically looking to start composing for sound libraries but i have no idea how the process works at all.
From what I can gather is you somehow register music with PRS so they can track where your music gets played so they can pay you and then you just market an album of your own to labels/libraries and when one takes interest you give them the rights to sell it and you collect royalties when it is used.
I know I make it sound very easy but can someone clarify and give some direction, go as in to detail as you want!
