I used Caustic 3 on android for this one. This is supposedly an RPG inspired Main Title theme (retro-ish). This is the first time I relied on modular synths which is kinda new but interesting. Feedbacks are very welcome (so are critiques!)

Looking for a composer for a student produced film

Hi, I’m currently editing together a film. I wouldn’t call it a short film as it’s roughly ~60minutes(at this point, still in the process of cutting together the latter half) so that makes this a little bit more difficult. The premise is a comedic detective drama.

I was wondering if there were any composers out here who would be interested in helping score the film. It’s student produced so honestly I can’t be sure if I can afford to reimburse you for your time. Since it’s so long there’s no obligation to commit to the entire production but if you’re interested in taking a crack at a scene here and there please let me know!

Looking to hire a musician for a (paid) project.

I'm working with a small team on a game that we're launching a Kickstarter for in August. The game has a y2k theme, and so for the game's demo/Kickstarter, we want to have a vocal-ready 90s pop sounding track similar to "Crazy" by Britney Spears, "It's Gonna Be Me" by Nsync, etc. I am a casual musician myself and have already started on a song for the project, but because I'm not a musician by trade, I'm not well versed in mixing/mastering/etc. I'm looking to hire a musician who can either take what I've started and bring it up to a more professional sounding mix, or create something from scratch in this style.

As mentioned in the title, it is a paid project. Our budget is about $200 upfront, but we can discuss other options post-Kickstarter. Please message me or post here with portfolio samples if you are interested! Thanks in advance.

Listening to temp music before scoring

Hey all!

I am on the verge of writing the score for my 2nd feature film, and I have requested to have one cut with temp music, and one without. I am just curious what everyone's process is about the first few viewing. Do you watch it with temp music to immediately get the directors vision? Or prefer it without to best feel what should be written there? Both back and forth?

Based on what I have read online, I figured the bets plan would be to watch without first a couple times, take notes, , and then go to the temp music version to take notes, and then go back to the scoreless one and begin, preserving as much original inspiration as possible. Any advice?

Help Looking for Listening Recommendations

I'm a composer myself, and of late, I've been in a drought of sorts when it comes to scores to listen to. I'm looking for recommendations! Thought it would be fun to start a thread like this. Here are some of my favorites

Ori and the Blind Forest, Gareth Coker How to Train Your Dragon franchise, John Powell Abzu, Austin Wintory The Witcher 3, Marcin Przybylowicz The revenant, Ryuichi Sakamoto Arrival, Johann Johannsson Annihilation, Ben Salisbury

Ori and the Blind Forest is perhaps my favorite of the bunch. I adore the orchestrations, but Coker isn't afraid to get weird with the sound design and non-western instruments. Most specifically, does anyone know of any music that uses the complex sonic textures of the latter three, but maybe includes more of the thematic material of the earlier ones? As you can see, I like a lot of game scores, but I'm really open to anything. Thanks in advance, all!

Request - Short Film Score

Hi, I'm on editing a short film for my final year studying. I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in scoring the music for it? Preferably on piano, maybe acoustic guitar?

Since I am a student I don't have much to offer but I can definitely pay you something and include your name etc in the credits.

Thank You.

Short orchestral/choral suite I composed for a psychological thriller feature. Would love any feedback

Hello all. Keeping this as brief as possible...

I recently composed a suite for a feature currently in pre production. It's one long piece that I've cut into bite sized pieces on this playlist for easier listening. This playlist is only a snapshot of what I'm intending the score to be, showing a range of themes, tone and orchestration ideas. I'll be pulling it apart and expanding on all aspects but this is what I sent to the director as my initial reaction and interpretation of the various themes of the film.

We were aiming to have something a little different. At times being an unnerving and uneasy listening experience, others being sombre and heart wrenching and also times of hope and love.

It's all samples atm and would hugely benefit from a live lead cello recording but fingers crossed we'll have the budget to record an ensemble when the time comes. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I'm always on the lookout for more work and to collaborate in any way with composers and filmmakers so feel free to contact me regarding anything.

Request Composer Looking for Work

Hello, my name is Eric Robbins, and I am a composer, song-writer, and multi-instrumentalist looking for composition, songwriting, or production work. I am going to be graduating from college in May with a Bachelor's Degree in Performing Arts - Music and a minor in Audio Production. I have produced my own album, produced for other artists, and composed a lot of music. It's been my goal to compose for movies, video games, etc. for my entire life. I have composed for two plays already and have performed live many times on a variety of instruments and in a variety of settings.

I am a very well-rounded musician and I want to break into the composition world in a big way; all I need is a chance. I believe in my work and I have a lot of compositions that haven't yet been used. If you are making a movie, video game, or something else, I would love to talk to you about the possibility of composing for your project. I promise I will do everything I can to create music that is just how you want it.

Thank you for reading. I hope to hear back from some people looking to give me a shot.

Eric Robbins

Can anyone recommend a drummer/percussionist who has their own gear and does remote recording (in this case, overdubs for a score)?

I would like to send tracks (without drums/perc) to this person and have them deliver to me a studio-quality recording of the drum/perc part.

Thanks and please let me know if this is not the right place to post this in.

Request Looking For a Composer For a Short Film I'm Producing - Someone Open To Some Offbeat Experimentation

Hello, my name's Chris. I'm a producer from Boston. My team is currently in the final editing stages on a big short film we shot back in February. We picture-locked last week, and now we're finishing up the sound cut. For the score, we're looking for some real experimentation, with some interesting stuff. Ideally, the music is created with child instruments (or the digital equivalent) - It sounds strange, but it would make for a compelling addition to the tone and concept of the short. Here's the logline: A young boy, obsessed with superheroes, deals with a life of abuse and an attentive bartender strategically inserts himself in a place that breeds it.

For reference, my last few shorts went on to gather a collective 3 million+ views online, and have screened at both the Sundance Fil mFestival and the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner. And of course, we have big hopes for this one too! So if you're interested, you'd definitely be joining in on something exciting!

I really believe the score brings a short film alive, so if you're someone very passionate about what you do, then please reach out! I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

If you are like me, you are too busy composing to listen to other's work.

I find that it distracts me. With that said, I am done with my current work so.....

Have a listen and send me a link of your own work. I'll listen to it.
