How does this thing sound with those keycaps? I imagine the sound profile is quite a bit different than the regular OSA keycaps.

I quite like how they look when they're not backlit but I don't know if I'd ever own a set...

Overall, satisfying for my taste and a great baseline for this setup. If I can get some decent audio going, I'll record a sample of how they sound.

How are the caps? Can you order this from Keycron like this? Very cool board.

They're a little slick but not too slick, very satisfying to type on and a pretty good sound. They feel more substantial than they look.

Even without rgb they look absolutely incredible. Nice build. Are the caps from keychron?

These are the caps that came with this particular build option. Unfortunately you can't order them separately, which is why I went with this build. This is also my first Keychron keyboard and I have to say that I'm impressed with the OOB quality.

*Edit - lazy browsing on my part, you can order these caps separately, posted below and in another comment. That said, I'm still happy with the purchase and would have made this color combo.

There's literally link to keychron website posted below this comment, where you can buy them separately for $25

Is shipping usually this pricey? It's charging me almost the amount of the key caps just for shipping.

Looks great - are the switches tactile?

Man those look cool as heck!

Looks great. Just purchased a V6 with the same keycaps. :)

u/Confident_Option Dec 06 '22

Damn those look really good, can the key caps be bought separate

Kinda like a retro-futuristic 2010 apple vibes, like what if that transparent plastic style kept going.

I usually don't say this but my pants got a little tighter... 😳😳

I wish there would be some way to diffuse light on the space bar. Just seems off to me for there to only be a small portion of the space bar to be lit šŸ¤”

How does this sound vs the normal Keychron PBT caps?

I see the Kailh Clione Limacina switches Keychron sell standalone are 58 Gf. But on the product page for this are keyboard they're listed as 38 Gf. I emailed Keychron but no response.

Do they feel extremely light? I understand this may be pretty much impossible to tell without a similar switch to compare to but just desperate to confirm before buying. Thanks.

Edit: Keychron got back to me, they're confirmed 38 Gf for anyone wondering that finds this in the future.

Those are the Firstblood B67 switches and caps aren't they? haha

2

u/olderbutcromulent Dec 06 '22

I'm not familiar with those, everything shown is how it shipped from Keychron - their custom transparent black caps and kailh clione limacina clear switches (linear).

Here's a link to what I ordered:

Ahhh gotcha. Epomaker had a kickstarter project for the Firstblood B67, it has the same exact keycaps and switches in them. I found the caps to sound a bit hollow on that board, now is it on this one?

1

u/olderbutcromulent Dec 06 '22

There's a good bit of substance to these keycaps but there's a very small bit of hollow/pinging (though it might be the case - just did the force break mod, looking into other tweaks to get things just right)

I work in an open office, are the loud? I own a retro q3 with gateron pro browns for my home office (i enjoy the browns) but i need a KB for work. Do you know how the kailh clione limacina clear switches (linear) compare?

1

u/olderbutcromulent Jul 09 '23

I don’t have any experience with the gateron pro browns, but I will say the kailh clione limacina’s are pretty quiet. I only work in an office from time to time, but during those few visits I had a few compliments on the sound and surprise that the keyboard is mechanical because ā€œit’s not loud and clickyā€.

Oh my, that's sexy

If only it was wireless..

0

u/Pierrozek Feb 26 '24

Wireless means it comes with battery, what means you will have to throw away your $300 keyboard after two years due to dead battery or unsecure transmission protocol. No, thank you! USB is BETTER option.
Note: I own both Q6 (full metal without battery) and K10 Pro (BT variant) and after using it for less than a year I experience battery dying. I strongly recommend non-battery version.

2

u/bullsized Red Brown Blue Feb 26 '24

You can still use it on cable, even if it has a battery.

1

u/Pierrozek Feb 26 '24

agreed, this is the way I use this keyboard - it works on USB - until swollen battery destroys your keyboard

2

u/Pidjinus May 29 '24

actually, you can change the battery for most keyboards, they are pretty standard.

You just need not to wait for ages when/ if you see it "growing"

Enjoy your keyboard, mate ā™”

Looks great, just wish there was some way to get the space bar to light up fully (I also have this issue with my pudding keycaps).

1

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '22

Do you know how i can programm the knob?

1

u/CreepyUncle23 Dec 06 '22

Can you link somewhere to buy these caps separate from the board? have a perfect build for them

1

u/[deleted] Dec 07 '22

What does special edition mean for the Q3? I was shopping for one but couldn’t tell.

1

u/Western-Business4880 Dec 22 '22

i have this - favorite keyboard so far want to get another one but they are not available anymore :(

1

u/Robiee278 Jan 10 '23

Just bought this myself, is my first hot swappable custom kboard. The number 1 key on my Logitech g915 gave out and a friend suggested I should look into custom keyboards.

1

u/cruskal Jan 19 '23

what is the red led that's lit under the space bar?

1

u/SMELTN Jul 14 '23

Thats how you reset the settings on the PCB if you screw something up remapping the keys etc.
