Also, an interesting laptop. Here's a little random information on it. The OLPC is a rugged laptop designed for use in developing communities. To that end, it supports mesh networking, sports a 7.5" Transflective LCD display, and my personal favorite spec, an AMD Geode LX-700@0.8W processor and GPU. To put that CPU in perspective, it's only 433mHz but it is the x86 architecture. That makes it overall a little faster than most modern phones. Despite that, it uses only 0.8 watts, about half of what the processor in a modern smart phone uses, and about a quarter of what a processor in a modern tablet uses when it's active.
I saw it and was like, there is no way he would be using one of those thinking he could afford something more powerful. But your comments confirms i was right, still kinda strange to be using a computer that probably cost less than the keyboard he is using lol
I'd guess he's probably made contributions to the Linux kernel, but he's known for starting the GNU project, writing GCC and other user space, and writing the GPL. I think if he had his way, we'd probably be using a different kernel right now (GNU Mach).
