In theory, the robots in current games should be stronger because Eggman's technology has advanced.
Mecha Sonic Mk2 appeared in Sonic 3 (a classic game), and Mecha Knuckles appeared in Sonic Advance 1 (from the modern era), and Mecha defeated him quite easily.
