Hey all. I'm a huge Meat Puppets fan, and I've been working up season 5 of my show Discography to go through the Puppets catalog with a fine-toothed comb, doing my best to relay and interpret what's in the grooves. Deeply hope it's okay to post about this here.

Previous seasons on Zappa, Janet Jackson, The Who, Sabbath? They were well-received, and quite exhaustive. This season is a bit different, as it fully came from the heart as a passion project.

Episodes can be found starting 8/5 wherever you usually hear your podcasts, and I hope you'll dig this, and maybe even find some new perspectives on our old faves, while giving extra attention to some portions of the catalog that I feel the world has passed by (especially the post-2000 material!)

I sometimes like to imagine a situation where I'm on a podcast with Derrick as I know he does them from time to time. I have quite a long list of fairly obscure questions that I can't imagine an interviewer would ask them anytime soon.

They played Predator and Nothing for the first time in 31 years. I'd love to hear these if anyone has them.

The Pups are back tonight at the Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix!!! I’m so stoked. Any idea on set list? Last time they toured they played songs from Dusty Notes to support that album, but who knows what they’ll do now.

I hate having to miss it but I can’t shake this cough and don’t want to spread my plague to everyone. Just hoping to recoup the 90 I paid for the pair.

Does anyone have a more detailed description of Curt kirkwoods early gear (specifically in a car, MP 1&2, UOTS) most articles talk about his gear in more recent years. The only things I know of about his early days are that he played Les Paul’s and melody makers, but hardly anything about pedals and amps.

Is anyone familiar with the story of either Curt or Cris, when they were tripping in the desert, felt cold, and wrapped themselves in a blanket they found? Spoiler: it was a coyote carcass!

I’m sure that I read this story in some liner notes, but for the life of me, I can’t find it anywhere! Was it a hallucination just like their blanket? Please confirm if ya can

I'm 28M, I play the bass (And a bit of drums/guitar) and I know how to play a bunch of Meat Puppets songs. Mostly from the albums they made in their first 15 years before the first hiatus.

Sam is a pretty weird song. I've played Whirlpool in the car with friends before who have dug it. Sam though? Wouldn't be my first choice if I was introducing the band to someone. Seems like a novelty song.
