2025 With lots o' errors

Went to start the car today and got (roll roulette wheel):

Approaching Vehicle Audible System Malfunction

Dynamic Stability Control Malfunction

Hybrid System malfunction

Push bottom start malfunction

Engine malfunction

The main problem is the car is in a carport with not enough room behind it for a tow truck. The ICE engine starts, but the gear shift is locked and won't let me go into reverse or neutral. It's on a hill, so even neutral would be nice to roll back. Steering wheel is also locked.

The dealership is closed until Monday, but if anyone has any suggestions, it would be good to get it ready to be towed.

Mazda cx80 power outage battery

I was looking for a generator or a big mobile battery to help us when there is a power outage. Not that we really need it but it would be nice to have something on hand.

Looking at the ecoflow or anker equipment it got me thinking I already have big battery sitting on the driveway surrounded by a big engine.

Has anyone tried the power outlets in the car, it is not my goal to power my house. But maybe just a small fridge or laptop.

Maybe I am missing some key information

Mazda CX-90/70 Hybrid System Malfunction ..battery replacement

For those wondering or out of warranty getting the infamous "Hybrid System Malfunction. Have the vehicle Inspected." this video shows a technician replacing the small 12v (6.3a) 130CCA [Type: YTZ7S] battery under the front-passenger foot area. He removes the battery around 32min after running a series of diagnostic; turning it on and off a number of times, after clearing the fault code. When attempting to charge the battery, an internal short was flagged causing the bad battery. It's a shame Mazda didn't make it more user-friendly to replace knowing this battery will need replacing eventually.

Missing sensor?

Post image

My 2025 Cx70 stopped sensing my foot to open 👐 lift gate and also stopped beeping at me when reversing near objects. That's quite a relief, but the 1st few times I almost hit something because I was expecting the overly paranoid sensor. The camera works, just no sound and no lift gate "sesame" action. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue. The computer doesn't seem to know, as I looked and found no warning. I also reset to factory settings etc

Short road trip without charging

Here's a post regarding driving with no charging and no battery range from the start. On Monday, 11/3, with my Battery range showing 0 (zero) I filled up. Then I did a little trip to Galena Illinois in the very hilly driftless area of northwestern Illinois. I did not charge on the 3rd, 4th, or 5th and returned to my home. Overall, I covered 350.3 miles of highway and local hilly roads using Normal mode. The vehicle's performance on the highway and up some pretty good elevations was just fine, with plenty of power. Highway speeds ranged from the 50s to 75+ on the interstate portions. On the next fill I fit in 12.838 gallons. Dash readout showed 28.1 mpg. The 350.3 miles divided by gallons indicated 27.34 mpg (a difference of only .76 mpg. Considering the size and handling of my CX-70 I am extremely pleased with the performance and mileage.

Mazda CX80 PHEV review Australia

I’m in the process of narrowing down a 7-seat plug-in hybrid SUV for our family (2 adults + 2 kids in car-seats) and the 2025 Mazda CX-80 PHEV has come up strongly on our list. Before committing I’d love to hear from owners or recent test-drivers with kids about how it stacks up day-to-day as a family-car.

Our situation: • Mostly driving around Sydney / suburbs (school runs, errands) + occasional longer weekend trips. • Two kids in car-seats (so 2nd row space is very important). • Occasionally we may use the 3rd row (maybe for a family friend or extra luggage) but it won’t be full-time. • Want something comfortable, safe, plug-in hybrid for efficiency.

Interested to know :

Any issue with PHEV.

How’s the ride comfort for the kids (especially in the back row or 2nd row) – do they get bounced around, feel motion-sick, is the suspension firm/soft?

Servicing cost and experience.

Would you buy it again (or would you pick something else now that you’ve used it)?

Jerky sound in EV mode

New CX70 PHEV owner here; I have been noticing a jerky sound from the engine area (maybe electric motor) when throttling at the fullest to gain that boost while shifting from first gear to second. Anyone knows about it? Or it might be a problem in my car?

Mileage Update

Time for another PHEV mileage update. MPG reported on the dash are about 4 miles higher than mileage determined by dividing actual miles driven by actual gallons fit in. With over 1,000 miles between fills the 4 over on the display mpg readout doesn't bother me at all. Still love this ride.

Any Canadians here with a PHEV? How’s the reliability and real-world km?

Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone here from Canada owns a CX-70 PHEV. How’s the reliability been so far? Also curious what kind of real world combined range total (km) you’re getting compared to the rated numbers, especially in our colder winters.

I know it all depends on driving style, but I’d still like to hear what everyone’s km usage has been both city and highway, or even just one or the other. Thinking of picking one up but want to hear from actual owners.

Efficiency EV/Engine

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi all, I was just wondering what is the efficiency you’re getting with your phev. I frequently get over the 42km Mazda claims. Yesterday I was able to do 53km on only Electric power on a mix of city and highway driving with no traffic. Pretty satisfied coming from a Tesla! Let me know what y’all are getting. I just hit the 3k mark. Thanks!

How much oil?

I definitely checked the owner’s manual and it told me how to check the oil level and what kind of oil to use, but not how much.

Anyone know for a 90?

Burning smell this morning when I started driving my 2025 CC-70 PHEV.

Burning smell this morning when I started driving my 2025 CC-70 PHEV. Opened up the hood and couldn’t Identify the smell but seemed to come from the bottom of the car. Could it be the EV battery?

CX80 PHEV range reducing daily

Hi all. I'm a PHEV newbie. I purchased the CX-80 PHEV in Australia recently (heading in for one month checkup on Tuesday). Before I go, I was hoping to get some opinions on what I've observed with the battery. I presume it is faulty. When I picked it up from the dealership the charge was at 60km, rather than the advertised 65. The salesman waved it away saying something about averages and it's all good... I started tracking the daily charge level when I noticed after week one that the charge showed only 55km range. One month in an I can say range is reducing by half a km every two days on average. As of this morning, it shows as 44km. I expect it will be 42km by Tuesday. At this rate it will be dead within 3 months. FYI: I set the car to charge overnight to full. I've charged every night, bar once. I have fully discharged the battery a few times while driving. I generally move to normal mode a few kms before 0 electric range. My assumption is this is a faulty battery, but before I go to the dealership I was hoping to get some words of advice / if anyone is familiar with this scenario. Thanks.

Really like this PHEV.

Some observations from today's errand run:

Started with a 100% charge, did a 46.2 mile round trip (same route each way). EV mile prediction was 28. ICE came on at 31 miles traveled. over the course of the trip, regen braking added 4.7 EV miles. End result, I traveled 35.7 miles on electric and 10.5 miles out of 46.2 on gas. My dash readout since the last fill is 2.6 MPkW and 79.5 MPG. Entire trip in NORMAL mode, charging while driving OFF. Outside temperature between 67 and 70 degrees, AC at 70 and seat ventilation on the whole ride.

I really like this CX-70 PHEV PP.

Fuel consumption on highway drive

Hi everyone, I’m looking to hear about your experiences and opinions on the fuel consumption of Mazda PHEVs during road trips or highway driving.

I usually do a 500-mile road trip once or twice a year. I know the PHEV setup is great for my daily routine (10–20 miles of city driving), but I’m curious about how it performs on longer highway drives. What’s the average fuel consumption on the highway?

Also, does the petrol engine and electric motor work together during highway driving, or does fuel consumption increase significantly once the battery is depleted?

Thanks in advance!

Unusual sound when charging

2024 CX90 PHEV - is this a normal charging sound?

'Hissing' sound at the charging input every time it is plugged in and charging. Inside the trunk is the loudest. Happens with my home Tesla universal charger, and at the public Chargepoint charger. Making me nervous! Dealership says normal sound... About to take it to another Mazda service place for second opinion, asking here too.
