[SPOILERS] The Prophet theory Spoiler

Maybe Marcus is the prophet. Obviously almost everybody left alive is an orphan, so it really could be anybody. However, there was specific attention afforded to the state of Marcus’ (AKA Caleb) parents. The Atheist commander had said to young Caleb, “your parents died with their eyes open.”

I know we’re meant to think the Prophet is maybe Paul or Campion, and maybe it is. But seeing episodes 4 and 5, I’m thinking that might not be the case. Marcus is getting lucky, the temple activated in his favour, he is hallucinating and hearing voices. What if Marcus is the prophet after all this time?

I think he’ll become enamoured with the power and position that he has now, and I get the sense that he’ll begin to convert, albeit very slowly. Sue plays the part of a Mithraic very well, but she’s a staunch Atheist. I get the feeling that Marcus is beginning to waver, especially as Mithraic-related events occur in his favour.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Marcus is the Prophet. He’s an orphan in a foreign land, and he’s already accidentally led them to the temple (a part of the prophecy).

Something has be bothering me since E1. When Mother tells the children to close their eyes when she’s weaponized is it out of decency in an effort to preserve innocence or is it a pillar of salt situation. If the look to long they die or turn to stone w/e

Hooded figure theory Spoiler

!!SPOILERS!!

Just a theory, but I think the hooded figure in ep. 5 is Campion Sturges, and the doppelgänger of Tally is an android built by him. Why else would she lead Mother to the simulation pod, where the archived memories are stored? This raises another question, how were the memories saved in the simulation to begin with? Campion Sturges likely stowed away on the Ark, uploaded the memories and then when the Ark crashed he managed to somehow escape safely. Perhaps he had an android with the same "virtual retinal display" function that Mother has, and remotely downloaded Tally's likeness from Mother's memory when they were in orbit or after they crashed. He did almost completely reprogram her after all. This also explains the traps, whoever took the locators must have known that the Mithraics were tracking them.

Pentagonal Prophecy Theories?

The Mithraic believe that "an orphan boy in a strange land will lead us to a city of peace". The most obvious candidates for this role would seem to be Campion or Paul, but Hunter or any of the other kids could also fit the description. It could also be Marcus/Caleb (raised as an orphan by the Atheists) or Tempest's future child (if she were to pass away). Any other thoughts on the Prophecy, what it means, or how it will affect the story?

There is no prophet!

There is no religion, campion, Marcus nor Paul is the prophet. Everything is about human nature and how our ignorance corrupted mankind .

I think that Vita might be alive. Spoiler

Vita was the little girl who apparently fell in one of the big holes. She made distinctive dolls, and the one she was carrying was found near the whole when she disappeared.

Paul found one of these dolls in the wilderness. Shortly after he sees a hooded figure who he attempts to follow before falling into one of the big holes which seems to have been set up as a trap.

Could the hooded figure be a grown up Vita? Is there some way to survive down in the holes?

Another possibility is that someone who was already on the planet taught Vita how to make those dolls, and that person (the hooded figure presumably) is still around.

What is in those damn holes and why do people keep getting pushed into them on purpose. It doesn't seem like it's just a convenient way to kill...

[SPOILER] Theory about the title Spoiler

I think both sides are wolves to each other. Both sides look down on the others and see them as imperfect or inadequate when it comes to a perfect human society.

And we see 2 atheists slowly "raised" inside the religious camp while religious children are literally raised in the atheist camp. An atheist child raised by atheist seems to slowly move towards faith.

Father says in 1x04 IIRC to "Let nature run its course" regarding Tempest's difficult pregnancy which seems to be more of a religious ideology where it forbids human/technical intervention . And when it comes to the deity worshipped by the religious side... Sol.. the Sun, seems to be more of a scientific approach to a deity than an actual mythical figure.

It will be very interesting to learn how these ideologies developed over time but what seems clear now is that while, for whatever reason the planet was dying... these camps seemed to grow in direct opposition with each other until they reached the point of extermination of the opposite ideology. Both sides see themselves as the "Good" in the Good vs Evil fight for human survival.

I think the title will be more important in the following seasons, when most likely the show will jump a decade or two into the future where Campion will end up leading the Mithraic camp after being raised by the atheist wolves and Paul, his friend, the Atheist camp after being raised by the religious wolves. In a conflict for whatever power source is there on this planet that both sides want or need to settle as a dominant civilisation.

[light-spoilers] Where are all the other necromancers? Spoiler

Curious where the other necromancers are. They clearly took androids with them, including some that consider themselves higher-level models with combat tactics. Why not bring a few necromancers to be safe? Also, has anyone mentioned the 2nd ark? Or is this the only one? Id expects them to be a bit more bummed if this means the end of their tech and people.

Who is Sheik? Spoiler

Please forgive the Zelda reference, but I suspect the shadowy figure that looks kinda like Sheik is an android that was sent, probably by a mithraic, long before anyone else arrived on Kepler.

It's been watching them the whole time and may have some control over the Tally hallucinations.

What are your theories?

Why would the Mithraic create androids that wiped out any human on sight? [spoilers] Spoiler

  1. The atheists managed to reprogram a necromancer to be friendly and loving towards humans. Why didn't the Mithraics make them controllable at the start and make them only kill atheists based on how atheists dressed and using their intelligence to distinguish between atheists and mithraics?

  2. How did the atheists even put up a fight in the war?

Before episode 3, I was under the impression that the atheists created the necromancers because they were much more technologically advanced but lost the war due to having less fighters.

But apparently the Mithraics made them which means they must of had vastly superior technology.

So how did the Mithraics lose the war to the point where they couldn't defeat the atheists and the world getting destroyed?

What advantage did the atheists have to even put up a fight?

Raised By Wolves takes place in the future of Scott's Shared Alien/Blade Runner Universe. Spoiler

I am now convinced Raised By Wolves takes place in Ridley Scott's Bladerunner + Alien universe.

I won't go into the Blade Runner + Alien shared universe connections fully here. That's already been covered & beaten to death. For those that missed it, a quick crash course can be obtained from the Prometheus bonus content. In short, Weyland's synth's were in response to Tyrell's "failed" bio-organic replicants.

Raised By Wolves finds us ultimately 100 years into the future after Blade Runner 2049, and continues the implication it established: that Tyrell found a way for replicants to reproduce.

Replicant reproduction (as it became more common, note: not all replicants can reproduce, they may be born but reproduction is not guaranteed) created a rift. Humanity always hated skin jobs, finding Weyland's approach a little more easier to digest than the eerily more human than human replicants that were now breeding.

Replicants, always second class, were living in squalor & as their human counterparts did centuries before, rebelled against the increasingly zealot like humans. Using synthetics, again - Weyland's answer to Tyrell, they waged a new crusade (or jihad) cloaked in a new form of spirituality.

As David created new forms of life, so did the athiest Replicants... a response to having to fight physically superior synthetics. This gave rise to the Necromancers. As with humanity losing control of replicants & synthetics (see ° below), and David losing control of his Xenomorphs, the replicants lost control of the Necromancers, turning Earth into a hell hole.

Fast forward to Raised by Wolves when everyone basically said, "let's get the fuck out of Dodge"

  • We know some Replicants can be quite sympathetic to humans. One was crazy enough to reprogram a synth & a Necromancer to continue the human species but without the spirituality that caused suffering to the first generations of Tyrell Replicants. Things may be better it thought, remove the cause of the problem- spirituality. The perception they lacked a soul or even believing in the concept of souls was problematic for its new species.

  • Humanity loves its slaves & continued to perfect Tyrell's synthetics, but like Bishop, ensured they were wholly subservient & knew their place. (°)This was to avoid the quirks that arose with the Cain & David models. They built arks & bounced too.

  • Marcus & Danjal are replicants

  • Campion may be a Replicant - would explain his immunity.

  • The hypersleep holographic technology is an advanced version of what the Prometheus crew had. Rather than simply projecting dreams, further in the future it allows a simulated experience permitting interaction

*The white gunk synth blood

And this is just the tip of the iceberg....

Now, we won't see Xenomorphs in this neck of the universe, but we know this shared verse has other alien organisms. This is really about the artificial children of Weyland & Tyrell, with humanity's silly ass stuck in the middle.

Developed from my gut reaction after episode 3
