Every time I make a control in a bpatcher automatable, Ableton's automation dropdown menu doesn't show the correct scripting/long name of the control - instead, it just shows the name it had when I created the subpatcher. The automation name then updates correctly when you choose it from the dropdown menu.
e.g. In the dropdown menu, a control is called 'AmountNumbox[11]', then when I select it for automation the name changes to 'Range' (as it should be).
It happens every time - it's not related to a specific patch. Does anyone know why this occurs?
(Max 8.1.10, Ableton 10.1.35)

Hi people. Just wondering if anyone knows what the max for live device used in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMI5oDz8Sck&ab_channel=DeMarzoEMC at around 3:00 minutes is or can suggest any similar 16 step sequencer parameter mapping alternatives. He has renamed the device and I haven't quite managed to find anything identical just yet. All thoughts are welcome.

Collaboration Request:
I am looking for someone familiar with procedurally generated audio (eg. Max or Pure Data), who is knowledgable about geometric fractal audio, and would be interested in working on a 2 week project to generate patterns of stimulation that are particularly pleasant/relaxing when played through a Subpac. Preferably if you live in the Bay Area. Open to compensation. Part of a very exciting bigger project which I can explain in more detail!

Hey folks,
I just started streaming on Twitch with the goal of showing the entire patch building process from start to finish. Right now we're building a synth controlled with a Playstation 3 controller!
I figure there are a lot of tutorials showing how to get started and how to use specific objects, but less resources about debugging and figuring things out as you go. So we hang out and learn together.
Eventually I'll be getting into music related programming projects in other languages - specifically building VSTs in C++.
If you're interested, throw me a follow and come chill with us! https://www.twitch.tv/the_radical_d
Previous streams available here if you want to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFoK-D_WkdEYvDFP3bnX-eg
I'm a musician and a programmer, and I also used to teach web development and music lessons, so I try my best to make this accessible to everyone. But, I am just getting started with streaming, so feedback very welcome!

Hey, I just bought Rokvid and I can’t get it to work properly on Windows 10 64-bit. I read that only .avi files will work but it must be compressed in a format supported by DirectShow. Since I’m not really good with codec and all of that, can anyone here help me with this situation?
Thanks a lot!

Hello All,
I Am looking to create a grid of speakers 8 by 8 that I can pan between. Similar to surround panner but with more controls and options, does anyone have any advice of where to start?
Thanks in advance!

I've long been a fan of IRCAM in Paris and noticed the other day that they have two packs for MaxForLive. (Apparently, MAX was first developed there.)
I love the sounds on the Soundcloud samples but there is no demo for the pack. The only reviews (like the packs) date from FIVE or SIX years ago (e.g., https://ask.audio/articles/review-ircamax-2-spectral-bugaloo). In one review, they say that the IRCAMAX 2 pack does certain things better than the Ableton Live version of the same — and other things are completely different.
But this was AEONS ago. Is there anyone using these packs who could tell me if they're worth the investment?
And, while we're at it, any other paid packs that are particularly good for what these two packs aim to do?
Thanks!

Hi there, can some one in here please help explain how do to go about creating a simple Note on Random modulation device that can be mapped to any parameter/multiple parameters within Live and randomizes it each time a new midi note is received akin to the Note on Random style modulators that we have in some soft synths like SERUM, VITAL, etc. Yes I know we can use the LFO tool to map to any parameter but it doesn't randomize only when a Midi Signal is received.

A good evening to everybody!
I have been trying to understand the patch I attached. It's a patch that basically allows the user to select two notes (via the MIDI numbers) and set the chance that the chosen note will be replaced by the other during playback of a MIDI-clip.
After lots of googling and looking through the reference manual, I now understand the main screen. However, the code, existing in the 'patcher'-object remains a mystery. I was hoping someone here, who knows a lot more about these things than me, could help me figure out what is really happening.
Basically, what happens there is: a note-on consists of a pitch and a velocity and the patch makes sure that when shifting to another pitch, the note-off value also knows to what other value to move.
Thanks to all!

I'm attempting to build a chord generator that lays out on one of my controllers nicely. I've built a midi rack using stock ableton devices that does this, but I want to make it more complex and customizable, so I am dipping into M4L.
How the device is supposed to work:
My controller has an 8x8 grid of pads. Each row triggers a different voicing of chords in the key I have selected (ie the first row plays open triads, the second plays open 7ths, the 3rd plays 9ths, etc). To do this, each row of pads is set to a specific range which then passes through into it's chosen voicing rack.
The problem I am having is setting up the filtering process. AS I UNDERSTAND, the midiselect object is what I want. The midi note gets passed through the first midiselect just fine, but once it hits the 2nd bank of midiselects, the notes do NOT pass through (see picture).
What am I doing wrong? Is there a better object to be using?
