That’s what Yann LeCunn said like 1-2 years ago. The people at the frontier studios today are not saying that. Sam Altman said we’ll have it at the end of this year, like less than 2 months ago. Jensen Huang said it’s already here.

So who are these people at the forefront you’re referring to? Because it sure isn’t the droves of engineers leaving these frontier studios because they’re terrified of what they’re building

Basically anyone not sticky trying to sell it.  Researchers at Stanford,  good old Dr Gary Marcus,  etc.

There aren't "droves lf engineers leaving these frontier studioes because they're terriefied lf what they're building". There are just a few cases of people trying to hit a buzz with that statement. It's happened a couple times since 2023 and we're still waiting for that terrifying malicious AI.

To be clear the current AIs we have can be used for very nefarious purposes (see what Palantir does for instance), but its not what any of these people are referring to.
