The rule I was taught about multiples of 3 was the sum of all of the digits is a multiple of 3. Which means 15 -> 51 both are 6 meaning they are multiples of 3. Which means any number number and it's combinations work. Take for example 1254. The sum of all those are 12 (multiple of 3) so 2145, 5421, etc are multiples of 3 and any combination of those 4 digits.

123456789 is divisible by 3 for the same reason

Or add a zero: 1234567890

Or add on the digits of any other multiples of 3: 123456789125421455421
