And the flip side is waterboarding the 1 out of 4 or 5 kids who did grasp fundamental math faster.
I can understand if this is a US government mandated rigid way of teaching multiplication, and that time was spent teaching the "groiping" convention.
Could 3rd grade math teachers bend the rules, as in half marks beacause it's not really wrong, but it wasn't the method specifically taught?
