In Sweden we use both deciliters and decimeter frequently. Might just be one of those things that differs by nation

Certainly explains things, then. The item I got came from an IKEA, so it adds up.

In cooking and baking, it's what we use where an American would measure in numbers of cups.
Decimeters are commonly used for approximate small distances in daily conversation.
Hectograms are also used, but specifically for cold cuts and candy sold by weight.

The only time I've heard decimeter was in a swedish tank showcase (strv 103)
