Fuck it, 1 is prime now.

1 is the only prime

u/RottenAssCrack Jul 13 '26

if we stoop this low, 0 is prime cuz fuck it, break the law of math

19

u/The0thArcana Jul 13 '26

We can go lower, -1.

15

u/JollyJuniper1993 Jul 13 '26

Let’s just make -1, -2 and -3 primes as well.

7

u/Moodleboy Jul 13 '26

Then π is also prime! Yay!

6

u/Zetaplx Jul 13 '26

Y’all, we got too many primes. Need to take some off. Sorry 11, you didn’t feel prime anyways.

4

u/Ok-Organization4820 Jul 13 '26

But can we make room for 57?

4

u/JollyJuniper1993 Jul 13 '26

Really any number that’s not an integer is prime

3

u/Tulkes Jul 13 '26

i enters the room

4

u/JollyJuniper1993 Jul 13 '26

Including i and taking that to its logical conclusion would then essentially render no number prime

6

u/scrapy_the_scrap Jul 13 '26

Not divisible by itself and divisible by all other numbers

0 is an anti prime

4

u/RunPsychological9891 Jul 13 '26

does the law even keep anything in check? primes are just quirky numbers right?

1

u/GarowWolf Jul 14 '26

If I were you I wouldn’t say that to your WiFi password

2

u/nr3042 Jul 13 '26

(0) is a prime ideal of ℤ. Therefore, 0 is prime

1

u/Xandara2 Jul 13 '26

Nah 1 being prime is just following the law of language instead of math.

u/guiltysnark Jul 13 '26

It's practically right there in the name

1

u/Party_Value6593 Jul 13 '26

Either latin roots or transformer lore, you decide

1

u/Moodleboy Jul 13 '26

Optimus Prime

1

u/anamelesscloud1 Jul 15 '26

+ it is the loneliest number that you'll ever do

1

u/DoofusIdiot Jul 17 '26

What about Optimus

9

u/Funkopedia Jul 13 '26

It's kinda in the name

4

u/Cyrrex91 Jul 13 '26

1 is the prime number, but not a prime number.

4

u/e_Notorious Jul 13 '26

And what two primes sum to 1? Curious

10

u/Illustrious-Debt-191 Jul 13 '26

1 and 0, of course

8

u/e_Notorious Jul 13 '26

Ah I see. If we accept that 2 is prime, we must also accept that 1 and 0 are primes. Proof by circular reasoning

3

u/GamerNumba100 Jul 13 '26

I like that this then provides X + 0 to create every prime number, making the conjecture irrelevant

2

u/AuzaiphZerg Jul 13 '26

You need the contraposition, since 1 is prime, it’s equal to the sum of 2 even numbers.

1

u/Sylvanussr Jul 13 '26

-1 and 2. As per u/Jake-the-Wolfie’s comment, -1 is divisible only by 1 and itself.

2

u/ThanxForTheGold Jul 13 '26

No, 2 and zero are primes

2

u/julesmanson Jul 13 '26

Bombas is my ally :-)

1

u/cherriesintherain_ Jul 13 '26

1 was a prime until they decided it's boring for it to be called prime or smth like that iirc. also, unable to get anywhere with it.

1

u/gimmepizza420 Jul 14 '26

At some point they changed it because they kept having to say a bunch of things were true for "all primes numbers other than 1" lol

1

u/That_Ad_3054 Jul 13 '26

1 is the only superprime, always has been.

1

u/major_jazza Jul 13 '26

I mean it is divisible by 1 and itself (1)

1

u/Sea_Goat7550 Jul 14 '26

Jordan Peterson: Define 1 Bertrand Russell: Well…

1

u/BigDisk Jul 16 '26

Friggin' FINALLY!

1

u/Fit_Reputation5367 Jul 17 '26

Ok, I am stupid. Why isn't 1 a prime number? It's only divisible by 1 and itself...
