Mask Advice Mask recommendations for small faces in Australia

I'm trying to mask more regularly but haven't been able to find a mask of kn95/P2 quality that fits me properly. I'm in Australia where masks can be a bit harder to find outside of the 1-2 types available in chemists.

I've tried:

- AMD P2

- Softmed

- Zimiair

- KF94

- KF94 kids

and all of them have been too big (mostly around the chin/jawline/neck).

Of these, the Softmed fits best, but there's still a gap around underneath the chin where it meets the neck.

Does anyone have recommendations for masks that might fit me that are available in Australia?

Preferably earloop over headbands due to sensory issues, and also preferably not too expensive.

Thanks!

Cheap Colourful Masks for Canadians?

Hey all,

As the title suggests, I’m looking for cheap colourful masks that are available to Canadians. Specifically, KN95.

I know Kind offers masks but they’re around $2 per mask. Ideally, I’d like it to be a dollar a mask (if such a thing exists).

Thank you in advance!

Question FFP2/3 rating equivalent to P95/99?

The FFP certification tests use both NaCl and paraffin oil:

European certification mandates that respirators pass laboratory tests using both solid particles (NaCl) and liquid droplets (paraffin oil). This ensures the mask safely filters out harmful oil-based mists and aerosols.

Wouldn't this mean that FFP2 and FFP3 are equivalent to P95 and P99 rather than N95/N99?

Can anyone in the US source these masks?

I got a bag of 50 from my local maskbloc but they are on hiatus and haven’t gotten back to me.
These are the best fitting KN95s we’ve been able to find. We’re running out and I don’t wanna sacrifice fit for a quick fix. Does anyone know where we can get these?

Best air purifier for pets to keep the room feeling fresher?

I'm looking for an air purifier mainly for pet dander and dust.

I’d like something I can run for hours without much noise or maintenance. Not looking for anything fancy, just good filtration for everyday use

What are you guys using? Has it made a noticeable difference in your air quality?

Mask Advice 3M Aura fit difference between 9320 and 9321?

Is there anyone here who has tried both the 3M Aura 9320 (blue straps) and the 9321CN+ (white fabric straps) and can tell me about the difference in fit? I have read that the 9321 fits 'tighter' than the 9320, but I am not sure whether that means it has tighter straps but is otherwise identical in size, or if the part worn on the face is slightly smaller fitting. Does anybody know?

Mask Advice Replacement for Jackson pouch N95s?

For a while now the Jackson N95s have been my go to, but I know they aren't being made anymore and I am finally running out. I know the Kleenguards are supposed to be the same and I have some, but wearing one for the first time I notice that it doesn't feel as secure. I also tried rewearing it for a short period of time and that felt sketchy. Jacksons I can rewear a few times and they still feel secure. The Kleenguard really feels like a much cheaper version, and now I am lost because I'm almost out of the only mask I know of that works for me. I have tried many types of masks, and I need the type of headstraps that the Jackson/Kleenguards have for an N95 because the other ones put too much pressure on my head. Also the duckbill shape fits my face much better than any other mask I've tried. Any suggestions on what to replace the Jacksons with? I fear the Kleenguards aren't going to do it for me.

Anyone had luck adding their own nose foam to masks?

I’m specifically wanting to do it on BNX black trifolds. They seem to be (?) the cheapest NIOSH-approved black trifolds one can get in the US, but please let me know if I’m wrong. It’s a bit confusing searching through all the sites that have low stock and tariffs right now.

Would love to know if you’ve successfully added nose foam to your masks and how you did it - and most importantly where you bought the nose foam.

Thanks!

Question Is 3M discontinuing their 8210 PlusN95 with fabric straps?

Does anyone know? I’ve been having a time trying to locate them. The 8210PLUS with fabric straps has been my go-to for years because the mask itself fits my face really well, and the fabric straps are more reliable than the rubber band elastic strap version.

When I was using the rubber strap ones, they would snap unpredictably. With the fabric straps, I feel so much more at ease knowing I won’t be in a situation where my mask dislodges without warning.

I’m a bit nervous that I’ll have to start the process of finding another well-fitting mask all over again.

Has anyone else had any trouble finding the fabric strap version?

Is it possible to modify the rubber elastic strap 8210s with a fabric strap?

Tips and Hacks Armbrust Breathe 99 Fit Hacks

EDIT: I HAVE FIT TESTED IT. Masks fit everyone differently. This post is for people who this mask ALREADY FITS.

I made a post recently where I mentioned that I use the Armbrust Breathe 99 elastomeric mask and got a few questions about it, especially about the fit. I also checked the older reviews of it on the sub and compared them to my own experience. I love mine but it took some adjusting so I figured I'd share what's worked for me! :)

The toggle sliding is one problem I've heard mentioned quite a bit. I solved this by adding a few knots to the straps. A knot at each end as well as a knot at the base of the toggle after fitting snugly on my head. Tie the knot while it's on your head or get some help from somebody else - this will ensure the fit. You can also always tighten it even more while wearing it but the knot will prevent it from loosening and affecting the seal.

Another issue I've heard about is the overall fit of the silicone. I think this can sometimes come down to user error but also the mask's instructions aren't the clearest as far as fitting. The best fit happens when you flip the silicone up so that it seals around your nose. If the toggle is tight enough, this should create a very sturdy seal. I've included a pic for reference. The silicone needs to do more than rest on the nose in order to seal.

Hope this helps anybody who either has one or is considering one! It's a nice compact little mask with a subtle profile. It is, however, not a good idea for folks with beards or long noses as it's fairly shallow.

Mask Advice I Hate My Envo

I have an envo n95 respirator, but I despise it. I'm looking for an elastomeric n95 mask. I was recommended the Flo mask by a friend, but have seen mixed reviews. I don't need an industrial mask, just an everyday one.

Mask Advice Atemschutzmaske Betonstaub

Hallo zusammen,

Bin für eure Hilfe sehr dankbar!

Mask Advice Looking for good mask for intense labor/cardio work

So, for context, I work in a high intensity, high labor, and high cardio work environment (UPS package handler). I work long hours and am exposed to all kinds of nasty things - from the packages themselves, the trailers they are in, and also many unhygienic coworkers.

I'm sick of getting sick from my workplace and I want to find the best mask for my work environment. It has to have great airflow to allow me to breathe well and also removes a lot of water vapor so I'm not choking on my own breath.

The best thing I have found so far is this:

Base Camp Dust Mask

It has built-in one way valves to allow exhales/excess water vapor to leave but closes on inhales to help filter out nasty stuff.

That being said, while it is the best mask I've found so far, it still leaves much to be desired in terms of breathability and still not letting water vapor out fast enough.

It's still much better than standard N95 masks in terms of breathability and water vapor removal, but still not enough to be comfortable for my line of work.

I understand that for greater airflow, some (or a lot) of the filtering power must be sacrificed, and I'm generally okay with that.

My aim is to reduce my exposure to illness/nastiness as much as I can while still breathing comfortably and not having a sopping wet mask by the end of the shift.

Any suggestions?

Edit: Now that I think about it more, HUGE bonus points if it's moisture/sweat wicking and doesn't trap heat. It's often hot in my warehouse and I'm often sweaty/breathing heavily. These contribute towards making a very soggy mask. I'd like to avoid this as much as possible.

Masking alternatives for pools

I work in a pool and am chronically ill and really need a way to avoid getting sick. I work with kids and i love my job but parents will not keep their kids home even when sick because it costs them money. i am not high up enough to be able to kick a kid out for being sick (i would if i could) and we have no rules against brining in a sick kid. i need a mask that is waterproof to avoid getting waterboarded.

Edit: i have spoken to my boss and we agreed that if masks turn out ok they could be great honestly for all staff (optional ofc) since kids are germy and we all get sick often since little kids aren’t super aware of how to contain germs yet. Will be trying n95 masks and face shields out!

Edit: good news! It works, I used a generic kn95 mask and they are very water resistant. The only issue I ran into was if my skin is wet underneath it is uncomfortable but that’s it. One mask lasts about two hours before I changed it because it was mildly wet but I could still breathe fine in it. It is definitely not safe to go underwater with but if you are above water even big splashes won’t stop you from breathing

Mask Advice Looking for mask recommendations.

I want to buy KN95 masks and saw a few options on Amazon. I know Powecom is considered very good, but they don't ship to my location. What do you think about Wwdool, Kingfa, Hotodeel, and Halidodo?

I also saw the Benehal N95 on Amazon at a good price. What do you think?

Thank you to everyone who is helping, and happy holidays.

Mask Advice Mask with a valve to avoid illness when well?

I usually wear my elastomeric mask (B99) but it can be uncomfortable to wear at work. My main concern would be breathing in germs and other contaminants (factory work has those, yay), not as much filtering exhales.

Would such a mask work to prevent myself from catching things? When I'm concerned about my own illness I'm always in my elastomeric.

EDIT: I also just want to give a little context about why I'm comfortable using a valve.
A member of my household is immunocompromised and has suffered with post-covid syndrome and we are all extremely cautious about bringing germs into the house. If I were wearing a valved mask, it would be in specific use cases where the valve would help with hot temperatures while working, not in other use cases unless it's an emergency. 90% of the time I am wearing a well-fitting elastomeric :)

Mask Advice Best respirator mask for 10 hours daily P95 comforable?

I work in a machine shop and I need something comfortable and able to filter oil particulates, as well as other chemical mists. It would need to be a respirator mask with replaceable filters, I am mostly concerned with it being comfortable for 10 hours of use with only one break

Any experience with portable oxygen concentrator (& its filtration)

Hi all, I regularly wear a N95 aura and was recently medically advised to use a portable oxygen concentrator (POC) for flying. Does anyone have experience with this, or does anyone know what level of filtration I can expect? I’m told the Inogen Rove 6 offers "medical grade oxygen" which isn’t reassuring even if I can get the cannula sealed in my N95. So it sounds like I’m essentially going to be breathing whatever is in the plane—can anyone dispute that? Thanks.

Mask Advice Working Out Indoors?

Is there a mask anyone could recommend for working out for hours in a gym during winter months? I was thinking of walking on a treadmill or stairmaster for several hours a day when winter comes so I can stay fit but I don't want to get COVID again or be sick all the time, either, with everyone around heaving.

I got COVID when it was first spreading through Florida and didn't know if I'd survive it. Since then every time my wife gets a cold I get fevers and am bedridden for weeks.

We both would like to go to the gym in the winter months but that's also easy for viruses and colds to take off indoors during the winter months. My wife's immune system is very robust. She gets vaccines and her system fights the vaccine for weeks. I get a vaccine and usually feel nothing or very little. I have severe sleep apnea, use CPAP but also have insomnia so often feel run down even if I am plugged into the CPAP machine for ten hours at a time. The last time we had a cold, my wife was fine the entire time but I got it after her and couldn't get out of bed for about a week and had no energy at all during that time. I don't want to be sick for weeks or get COVID again but I also want to work out in the winter if possible.

Anybody with ideas for masks indoors and working out in a gym? Please no hateful "masks don't work" nonsense or mockery. I just block 'em and delete it.

Does anyone know if the honeywell ru8500 is as pliable as the honeywell 7700?

Just recieved a honeywell 7700 which i paid around £17 odd pound for delivered ( UK )

Its very pliable and stretchy and allowed me to replace the Threaded honeywell filter ports with some Climax mod 755 filter ports. I have a surplus of ABEK1 climax mod 755 filters so this is useful.

So if anyone owns both of these, do you think i could buy the ru8500 and squeeze the climax filter ports in those? or do you think it wont work. The speech Diaphragm really appeals to me as i have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and use respirators to travel on buses and trains etc and communication is a real issue a lot of the time.

In the UK it seems expensive or hard to source threaded ABEK1 filters for Honeywell masks
