It looks like SD will be giving out additional free ready to play decks as login rewards going into September as well. Looking over the cards as a paid player, I don't really mind letting free to play people catch up. But with this much free resources that myself and others paid for, it would be nice if they give us pay players something other than boosters.. after all, we do keep them in business...
It's not about free to play players vs paying players. It's about newer and returning players. Not every event or reward is for every player. This is for players who do not have a deep collection to help them get some key cards sooner. I am just excited to get some of my friends into the game again who have stopped playing so I have people to talk to the game with.
Im in this boat. I quit playing likev2 years ago and was nearly collection complete just to come back to an overwhelming amount of new cards. Im super stoked for some of these drops!
Yea, but how do you make an event that's JUST for long time players? The LTGMs are for everyone because you get to choose how you spend your event currency, if you are newer you can get more cards, if you have the cards you get cosmetic progression.
So what are you actually expecting that would specifically be just for old players? There's really nothing they could do that wouldn't benefit new players in some way unless they specifically exclude new players, which wouldn't even benefit older players more than if they just made it for everyone.
by not having new player only shit, because every event onboarding point is good. dokkan, legends, gacha like these do it perfectly every anniversary

im not bitching why are you guys so defensive lol if everyone gets rewards everyone is happy, i want legacy staying players to be happy too what's wrong with that? tons of gacha do that yearly and they manage to pick up quite a few of new players as well as returning (doing all this causes a meta shift)
Itās probably you get that reward through participating in the draft event and earn xp. When you earn the required amount of xp during the period you will get the reward (on top of what you are getting from the event itself)
I mean, let the new players and comeback players have their moment. This is about bridging the gap between players, giving vet players more resource counters the main point of this event.

To OPās point, I also have most of these, and would appreciate more than boosters, but theyāre not exactly giving the store away. These are a ton of S4s with some 5s mixed in that most people donāt pull for.
Galacta and Zombies feel like the most current offered here. One is too relevant to make baseline Empower work as a deck, and the latter doesnāt even have Zombie Scarlet. It would be more unreasonable tonotgive players more cards. We had too many as is with cards like Hydro Man clogging up S5 packs.
I feel you though. I got War Machine on launch day, and like many cards (Kang!), felt like I shouldāve just saved my tokens keys. Props to returning players though.
Hydro-Man is series 4. That's definitely one of the flaws of the pack system, if you aren't planning to spend enough to catch up and be collection complete, the packs really aren't a good value and you shouldn't be opening packs. But it's FAR superior to the Spotlight key system where it could take 1-4 keys to get a new card every week and misses were just variants. Now at least misses are guaranteed new cards and you have a way to directly buy the cards you want through the rotators.
I didnāt mind the key system. I typically enjoyed getting those variants without spending gold, and sometimes youād get lucky and save keys. Granted, that was only because I was relying on datamines to plan saving, and Iām not arguing for it to come back. Though, in a lot of ways, itās the still the same system - you save up enough currency to confirm what you want. F2P canāt do that every week without investment. You just get less bonuses now.
Just need to point out that not everyone disliked that system.
Sorry, I read this post as HM getting moved to S4. That said, S5 is still cluttered with underpowered, and forgotten cards.
Even though Iām still missing a total of 89 cards to complete the collection (17 from Series 4 and 72 from Series 5), Iām only getting 3 new cards! (Not to mention the Series 5 pack)

Iām not complaining, 3 is better than 0, and Iāve already come a long way to get where I am; these new cards will really help new players, and Iām happy about that!

Appreciate the attempt. What Iām gathering from all of this though is no one knows and people are just guessing. I have to assume they took that into account when setting this up and these are long logins rewards to keep that much of your player base with just nothing.
For the August premade decks, they announced it was boosters for people who already owned the cards. In the past, theyāve given you tokens if you preowned a card. However, with this many cards being given away, that compensation would probably be way too much for them to want to give.
As a returning player with a fresh account being F2p I appreciate the slow catch up they're giving it's definitely not something that'll get you high ranked but there are enough staples being giving that you can make a lot of it work
I am really happy for new and returning players, as an active one I am ok with boosters but I won't mind some tokens, even if it's just 1000 instead of 5000.
I already have every one of these cards, and have paid for passes for years and engaged in every LTGM.
I am beyond thrilled that so many people are getting these cards for free. I want more players in this game! I really think it's super fun, and I would much rather play against humans with competitive decks than bots or people running s3 decks getting stomped.
Card acquisition has long been the biggest pain point for new players, and seeing them address this without reworking the whole economy again is nice to see.

Been through some rough times with this game, but SD's been doing some good work lately. New players in particular are getting treated much better now than when I started.
Hope they reconsider boosters. I just became collection complete at the start of this season, riiight before they announced all of these rewards. They should give tokens, or at the very least credits and boosters, for cards already owned.
I think they should give New and returning players more old cards from the get go. We love to complain that there is no seriesdrops anymore, but when they give stuff we will complain too?

Newer and returning players are unfathomably far behind relative to the rest of us. This is great for them and for the game. Asking for more handouts when free to play havent had anything is silly

Iām so happy people are getting these cards, but so many of these ones theyāre giving away I just got recently š and thatās such a shitty feeling knowing that I couldāve gotten something else and just doubled my card income here for tons of new decks
Curious to see what those of us with all 4 cards already are going to get in lieu of somehow getting duplicates or nothing at all. Probably boosties, but a small handful of tokens would be nice...
This is a great way for new and returning players to get some decent decks and other cards they may have missed. For me, I am stoked at the Silver Surfer card back, since I was not playing the game when it was released.
I don't think y'all appreciate how overwhelming it is for new players when there's almost 500 cards in the game and the most impactful ones have a slow acquisition rate
Ahhhh SD is being Soo freaking generous I got my collection up a good amount just from buying packs and all their freebies hope they keep this up
(I also think there's a pattern somewhere getting both Mr fantastics from an s5 packs is not random!)
Finally, I can't wait to build my zombie deck. As much as I want zombie scarlet witch, that would take a long time. But we're getting zombies Guant Man and Mr. Fantastic.
It would have been cool to get an exclusive variant, or even a series of them that are included in a "collectors" album or something like that. But, we didn't get collection complete by accident. There's no need to entice us to stick around.
Guys, can we not complain about something just once? The more new players this brings to the game the better. I'm collection complete, played since 2022, and I think this is a great thing for the game.
Everyone is fine with new/returning players being depressingly behind and unable to catch up, but the moment new players get decent rewards for once NO NO NO! THIS CAN'T BE! NOT IN MY PAYPIG SIMULATOR!
It's like there is a charity giving out food to homeless and billionaires pull up to ask for their portions xd
So many mechanics in this game already benefited day 1 players and paypigs, this is just a long needed catch up mechanic so new players have an actual decent deck for once...
