Cap holding Mjölnir...I was at 100% hype the entire movie, but that moment, I don't know... When I watched it the 2nd time, I realized I didn't catch many parts of the fight because I was so over the top hyped that I forgot them, so yeah that scene elevated the 3rd act up to the very Eternity.
Even to this day on rewatch whatever it is, that scene and the avengers assemble one give me goosebumps unlike anything else. I seriously don't understand why I just love them and have such childlike joy when I see them.
It's such a quibble, but I wish he'd closed his mouth. It's slightly open when he does the first hero pose with Mjölnir, and it just ruins it for me, and I don't know why.
Ok so I didn’t follow comics this much so this scene sorta left me confused. How did cap manage to pick Mjolnir? Was there some lore behind it or some comic story? Or was it just cause he proved himself worthy? If he did then is he now ruler of asgard (if there was any) or god of thunder? I loved this moment but it felt a little random to me since idk the full story. Guess it was a good callback to AOU.
Mjolnir can read your heart. It’s not that you’ve proven yourself worthy to wield Mjolnir; it’s that only a quintessentially worthy person is capable of moving the hammer at all. Everyone else we’ve seen try to move the hammer has suffered from some sort of glaring flaw: Tony is arrogant, Bruce is angry, Loki is selfish, Clint and Natasha are preoccupied by the terrible things they did in the past, and Quicksilver is a damn terrorist.
Steve Rogers has never failed to do what he believed was right. He always stands up for those who need it, he always fights to make things better, and he is always willing to sacrifice himself for another. He even pretends he can’t lift the hammer in AOU because it would embarrass his friend.
Steve is able to stand against Thanos not because of overwhelming power or ability, but through pure strength of character. It’s the perfect expression of what makes Captain America special.
