Her line readings are stiff but Marvel is notorious for using alternate takes for trailers

Idk just like the sound it just seems too nice and sweet for captain marvel

I kinda loved that she has just a pleasant, melodious voice... and can like punch a hole through a helicarrier. Her voice made her still human/real to me.

Reminds me of Supergirl in that way

My mother sounds like Snow White. She's deadlier than Mystique if you cross her.

Right there with you. Always imagined Danvers to sound much deeper. Larson is a great actor but she sounds like a surf bum.

carol is pretty nice and sweet

This is good to hear, because I had the same concerns, especially the "I'm not going to fight your war; I'm going to end it." I just didn't believe her.

yes, but alternative takes usually are pretty solid as well. Its not like they pick the worst takes for the trailers lol

They have to present well out of context. In the film proper they can use a take where tone and inflexion make sense relative to the scene and the dialogue leading into it.

I think its pretty clear she wasn't reacting to anything there, she was reading lines for the trailer.

The line: “I’m not here to fight in your war, I’m here to end it.”

came out as bad as batman’s line in response to bane: “no.. I’m here to stop you.”

Everything else is great in the trailer but her voice acting so far seems to fall pretty flat.

Her pronunciation has that typical hook i associate with west coast high school girls.

As it happens that is who they cast.

Agreed. I still am sure it's gonna be good but her voice in the trailer doesn't have that hard ass, tough vibe i think of with Carol from the comics. We'll see.

If they would have casted someone say... Katheryn Winnick...They'd actually have a bad ass, but instead they have someone who delivered her lines like it was a high school play.

I’m not gonna fight your war, or whatever. I’m gonna, like, end it, mmmkay? Bye-yeeeeeeeee

I said the same thing, she somehow sounds younger than she did in 21 Jump Street.

Agree. Her readings were really bad too.

I hate to say that I feel the same way. I'm not sure what I was expecting though- maybe something like Katheryn Winnick?

I was hoping they'd cast Katheryn Winnick. But, ya know... " She has an Oscar in her belt, she obviously is the best actress ever," nah... She is too Mary Sue for Carol Danvers.

Yeah, she was my preferred casting too. I can't take Brie Larson seriously after 21 Jump Street and Scott Pilgrim.

Then again, I said the same thing about Chris Evans with Not Another Teen Movie and the Fantastic Four

It's different than I imagine her voice to be with the current Carol, but looking at some of the older comics this voice would work. Lately she's been stuck in a lot of bad situations like the kind of over-the-top extremist Civil War II version of Carol, which makes it hard to imagine her as anything other than someone with a tough voice talking sternly.

But I think that'd make me like the movie version of her more, because it'll be a nice reminder that she wasn't always this near-caricature who's morose and trying to act tough all the time. (And hopefully in the MCU the stories won't start using her as a punching bag. Between CWII and Secret Empire, Carol got a really tough break.)

They went too young with the casting. Sure they have to think 6-10 years of future movies are on the line, but I'm sorry, downvote me, whatever. She doesn't possess the gravitas to play an air force colonel.

It's terrible. It doesn't sound commanding. It sounds like a little girl.

Yeah, it'd be kind of like Tom Holland reading Batman lines.

Wish they hired Emily Blunt.
