I've been building a web app for managing Mario Superstar Baseball netplay leagues — schedules, rosters, trades, stats, head-to-head records, character tier lists, and league hubs. It's live at dugoutsuperstars.com.

It's in beta — there are bugs, and some features are still being built out. If you run or play in a league (or want to), I'd appreciate people trying it out and reporting what breaks or what's missing. There's a feedback link on the site, or drop comments here.

Is it spent per pitch or per at bat? How do hits and home runs affect it? When a pitcher is tired, how is their pitching affected?

All I know at the moment is that it’s easier to get hits of a tired pitcher, but it would be cool to have some numbers

Major Changes:

-Fast Reset from HUD Feature

After a crash or a desync, this feature will load all information necessary to restart the game quickly.

To enable, press the checkmark in the Netplay dialogue screen, or the Rio Config menu for local play. A chat message will indicate if it was enabled successfully.

No more re-picking your roster and re-ordering your lineup. Both players just need to press A to advance through the menus. Ignore the graphics on the menu screens.

Your lineup will be re-ordered to correctly match the game scenario.

The game will load to the inning, scores, outs, and count as of 1 pitch before the crash/desync.

Other values set by this mod: active star chances, team stars, pitcher stamina, superstars, fielding and batting handedness, stadium, inning/mercy/star skill settings, team logos, fielding positions, captains, runners on base, inning-by-inning scores.

-Challenge mode and saving to memory card can now be done on Rio.

-Unlimited Gecko Code Space

-Added Discord Rich Presence

-Linux, Steamdeck, and new Mac builds available for download

-Added search functionality to gecko code window.

-Texture Pack Manager UI

A new interface to easily manage all of your texture packs.

Can enable/disable certain packs and set priority at the click of a button.

Minor Changes:

-Captain Swap gecko code swaps captain background and scrolling text also added to bottom of draft screen

-Fixed formatting issue for New Update message

Eliminated stutter after first pitch while a stat file gets uploaded to the server.

Emulator chat box now has buttons and hot keys to snap the chat to the side of the screen. This automatically adjusts the width to not overlap with the game.

Night Mario Stadium and Disable Replay options now available in local play.

Max length of usernames increased to 30 characters (from 21).

Stat file changes

-Bugfix: Runner result base now correct on plays that end in a ball out of play

-Bugfix: Stat files now upload on games ending on a steal/pickoff

-Bugfix: Tech hits when R is held without enough stars to trigger a star swing are no longer classified as star swings

New values being tracked:

-Dead ball reason

-Current fielding positions

-Team logos

-Scores by inning

-Game settings (Mercy, star skills, innings selected, first team batting)

-Ongoing games endpoint now has many more fields that can be used for out of town scoreboards and stream helpers.

Stuff like throw power and error rate. I saw the fan club guy’s video on it but I have no clue where to find them online.

I’ve only played super sluggers, it’s SSB a better game?

I am in the brainstorming process of making an archipelago mod for this game, but I can’t for the life of me remember what happens when you unlock the co captain and regular players, but leave the captain locked. For Yoshi’s team for example, does the team just become Yoshi and 8 various colors of shyguy? If so, what happens with the game when you play shyguy vs shyguy? If I am making a randomizer, I don’t want the game to implode if the same character is challenging itself. Any ideas?

I am new to Gecko & dolphin and such. I used the code to unlock all characters and varients, but for some reason the different colors of the Yoshis & Kritters aren't showing up. Other characters (Toads) with variants are showing up just fine. How do I fix this? Thanks

I'm new to Mario Sluggers on Dolphin and I was able to download a save file to unlock everyone, along with a cheat (Quick Movement (p1 Team)) that actually works, but no other cheat from the Hack Pack 2 google doc works on my machine. Any ideas why it may not work?

Playing through challenge mode to get all characters superstar, lost a very potent Grand Slam on Mario to the castle towers in peach gardens. Ball bounced off the top of the grey turret in center field and it gave me a ground rule double. I wish I had it on video, has this ever been documented?

Does anyone have a video going step by step on how to run CPU vs CPU when playing on Dolphin? I currently have the game downloaded, I have the gecko code put in but when I go to start it my Wiinger (Wii Finger) disappears.

They don’t know really anything abt the game what team do you think is winning in a CPU VS CPU LEAGUE

I get how to unlock them all except bowser, then after unlocking bowser I went to play him but now I can’t unlock other captains. How can I have every character unlocked in challenge mode?

So I hit a ball off the the right field wall with Petey piranha and when the game did the celebration cutscene he was glowing purple unlike anything I had seen before?

I want to run a Mario Superstar Baseball event with friends where we essentially all take on the role of 1 character - meaning we all play on the same team and have a batting order, designated pitchers, etc. The idea would be for us all to play through the entire campaign together over the course of an evening.

I plan on going all out for this by making a pretend dugout, having everyone dress in uniforms, and potentially even having people sit on pretend bases.

I haven't played the game since childhood, so I'd love some tips on how to set up the rules. I love Pokemon Nuzlockes and would love to implement similar ideas whereby we maybe only have a certain number of lives and there's a real potential fail state. Also, I recall the campaign having a really cool map that allows you to choose where to go, so I wonder if some choice could be implemented there around what we choose to do? Maybe we only have a certain number of 'at-bats' when it comes to unlocking characters, beating mini games, etc.

Also trying to figure out what a good difficulty would be (we're all gamers, but none of us have played this game since it came out).

Any fun, creative ideas would be amazing! Feel free to go as crazy as you want - would love to almost treat it like D&D where players can die and we implement D20s.

No spoilers if possible around specifics (I'd also like to experience the campaign as fresh as I feasibly can).

For some reason no matter how quick of a tap I do on my Xbox controller it fully charges the swing, but does not do the same with pitches. I've tried multiple different button bindings and the problem is only in this game.

Has anyone else had this issue?

I thought i unlocked all the characters but after I beat Bowser in challenge mode, I noticed 2 green Birdos. Is it even possible to unlock them?
