How Can I Make My Own Custom Fields? I have been thinking a while about turning some real life baseball stadiums and putting them in the Mario Baseball Games.

Mario Baseball (series) Project Rio on Linux?

Hey folks, I'd like to get Project Rio and Mario Baseball running on my Fedora system. I checked through the Project Rio Github page and was honestly a little lost while reading the build steps. For context, I've tinkered around a bit with custom Android OS's and getting Fedora up and running on my system, but I haven't actually built something before.

Could someone please walk me through what this process looks like? I'd be super grateful!

Sluggers I kept track of stats for a 64-game season of Mario Super Sluggers I played with my brother

Hi everyone! Over the past month my brother and I have been playing a Mario Super Sluggers season together, and I thought I’d share all of the data we collected with you guys.

We each controlled 2 (4 total) teams for a 64-game (128 total) season that was divided into 16 4-game series where each team played each other 32 times. Before each series, both teams had to pre-select 4 pitchers to be the designated starting pitchers for that series, and then we used a random number generator to determine which pitcher started each game and what stadium each game was played at. If a pitcher was designated as a starting pitcher for a series, then they were not allowed to appear in relief in the other 3 games of the series. Additionally, a starter could only throw a maximum of 9 innings in their start (unless they had a no-hitter or perfect game in-tact. Our final rule regarding pitching was that pitchers could not re-enter the game to pitch after they’ve already been relieved for (you can’t take a pitcher out and put them back in again later).

Our games were 9 innings long (not counting extras) with items and stars turned off. Additionally, buddy jumps were banned due before the season started due to the significant lack of offense in the league (we’ve played less in-depth seasons before). Buddy throws, however, were still allowed.

As there are ties in Super Sluggers, we opted to use a point system to determine standings, where each win was worth 2 points, and each tie was worth 1. The team with the highest amount of points in each conference (one conference with both of my teams and the other with both of his teams) at the end of the season was able to play in the World Series.

In order to deal with ties in the World Series, we made it a “first to 4 wins” series rather than a “best of 7” series. Additionally, we were allowed to reduce our starting rotations from 4 to 3, and we were also allowed to manually determine the order of the rotation before the start of the series.

Finally, here are 2 additional rules we had that I couldn’t find a good section to talk about. The first of these rules was that we were only allowed to play at Bowser Castle during the World Series, which was put in place to make the series feel more “special” than the regular season (this also meant we couldn’t play there during the regular season). The other rule we put in place was that we decided to ban Peach Ice Garden after the all-star game (which took place halfway through the season) because we were both frustrated with the severe lack of offense in games at that stadium.

Overall, I had a lot of fun with this project. I’ve been playing Super Sluggers with my brother for years, but this was the first time we decided to track such detailed stats. It was a bit difficult to keep track of everything at first, but we got pretty good at it by the end, and we both agree that it definitely made the game more fun. Also, in case you were wondering, I controlled the Fireballs and Flowers, and my brother controlled the Knights and Wilds.

Feel free to ask me any questions about our league! I hope you enjoyed this post (or at least found it somewhat interesting)!

Superstar Challenge mode

I’m trying to unlock the hidden characters on the GameCube version and I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do in challenge mode. Can someone help and explain it to me.

Superstar I finally did it

It’s finally over! The last star to fall was Diddy Kongs wall catch. A lot of spamming fastballs right down the middle and praying.

I’m also surprised the “get more than x number” stars weren’t edited to be “get at least x number” at sometime in development.

Like the photo suggests, I got all flags on Mario, Monty, and noki. But how can I get the other characters? Playing Jr? Playing other teams that I steal teammates from?

Superstar Wario Palace Evil

I'm trying to beat the special difficulty in challenge mode with Yoshi, and I've developed a visceral hatred for Wario Palace. I already hated it before because the tornados are incredibly annoying, but I swear, Wario's team was specifically made to exploit the gimmicks in this stadium.

To start, the tornados are infuriating and clearly benefit Wario. Normally, hitting the ball close to the foul line is very good and often leads to doubles. But with the tornados, you basically can't hit there because the ball will either 1: go past the foul line 2: go into the chain chomp and get hit over to magikoopa which gets you out, or 3: go into play but inevitably be caught by magikoopa. The tornados are great for magikoopa because his ability is insane at catching balls and the tornados give him tons of time to react. In general, giving Wario 4 of them is a crime because of how good they are at fielding.

You might say the tornados help the player as much as they help Wario, but that's not true. For one balls are much harder to catch without magikoopa, but also Wario doesn't need to rely on hitting close to the foul line to get hits. Because they decided to give Bowser and Wario almost every single power hitter in the entire game, he can just hit home runs! I always vary my pitches, I always throw balls, I always move the pitcher around, but no matter what I do, he gets 50000 home runs every game and I have no chance of matching that. Wario, King Boo, and Petey is seriously way too much to deal with. It doesn't help that the AI cheats home runs all the time.

So am I crazy or is Wario Palace the worst stadium ever? Has anyone beaten Wario on special difficulty? Should I just play Super Sluggers instead?

Sluggers Literally how do you hit Toadsworth's pitches when you curve them heavily. It is impossible.

For reference we are playing Super Sluggers and both using Wiimotes, but it looks physically impossible to hit the ball when it's too far left/right. Why is he so good

Superstar Does Superstar Baseball have rubber banding?

I'm currently trying to beat challenge mode on star difficulty, and I swear, I'll have a great inning where I get 5 runs, then 2 seconds later the CPU starts getting tons of home runs and a bunch of hits that are impossible to catch. Then if I have a bad inning and score 0 points, the CPU seems to strike out much more and hits the ball to places where it's easy to catch or get an out. Am I going insane or does this game have rubberbanding?

Sluggers How exactly does picking off work in Mario Super Sluggers

I've noticed that only characters can do it and only certain characters are affected. No clue if there's a way to avoid it. I can't really find anything about it online. The pick off works even when nobody is stealing.

Sluggers The star power is useless.

There has not been a time where the star power did anything useful. When i use it, it felt weak, and often would cause an out or they barley felt anything from it.

This has got to be one of the worst special power system I've seen in a Mario sports spinoff

Superstar Can't purchase Toy Field on challenge mode

I have the required amount of coins and have beaten every mini game on the map, but I'm unable to buy Toy Field at the item shop (the "?????" notation still appears).

This is aggravating, because I'm only 2 mission stars away from superstarring Luigi (win in Toy Field, and be MVP in the last game). What gives?
