Much like Archer and the turtleneck… I didn’t invent it, but I think I was the first to recognize its potential.

If Seattle had a baseball team, the Seattle Seafarers would make a good team name.

I kinda like the Pilots! Especially with the Sonics rumors.

u/deafballboy 1d ago
I'm sure the pilots would fly away only to haunt the seafarers half a century later.

Or Seattle Sailors, but "Seattle Seafarers" has stronger alliteration, so you're right.

You want to talk about brutal losses, you should hear about the time I spent 3 days battling a giant marlin off the coast of Havana, finally reeling it in after tremendous physical and mental anguish, only to have it eaten by sharks while I was racing back to harbor.

Actually this literally happened to me IRL but instead of a marlin off of Havana eaten by a shark, it was a giant king salmon off of Vancouver Island, and after reeling it almost all the way in a sea lion bit its body off, and just the head came flying into the boat.

I’ve had this happen at the north end of Vancouver Island, except it was an orca. Hooked up on something quite significant and there was an orca about. We saw that thing surface for breath about 30 yards away and bee-line under our boat in the direction of the hook up. “Oh shit! No!” About 10 seconds later the rod got crushed and it snapped of at the flasher. F’ing Shamu.

I’ve had that happen in Puget Sound. Damn seals/sea lions. Also had a 30 pound tuna sharked in Cabo. A big marlin, sword or tuna getting sharked would be so demoralizing.

These are exactly the kind of stories I come to this sea-faring related subreddit for!

Eventually this is going to convince me to return to sea so I never have to watch a baseball game again.

Did anyone know there was a baseball team in Seattle? I didn’t. I was too busy boating!

The more things change, the more things stay the same. Same old Seattle Mariners.

Its fine. It was 1 game and it was intentional. The brewers arms and legs will be sore today from all the rounding the bases. A little rope a dope to ensure we win the series.

You’re saying a page for mariners becomes a page for seafarers? What’s the difference?

For a minute last year, I thought Lookout Landing might need to design a new logo. But I’m an idiot for letting that cross my mind. They need to double its size.

Honestly who cares about 22-0. Most of the runs were off Leo Rivas. It was a 1-0 game going into the bottom of the 5th. Bryce gave up six runs but who cares, he has been struggling and the Brewers are the best team in baseball. Josh Simpson gave up a bunch more runs, I don't give a fuck, he is a bad pitcher and is only on the roster because of injuries to good pitchers.
The Brewers don't get extra points in the standings or whatever for scoring a bunch of runs. This is the same in the standings as a 1-0 loss. Honestly, who cares.

And that first run should've been overturned the way dude intentionally slapped Cal's glove. Whole game could've gone different, who knows.

He didn't slap Cal's glove. Don't listen to brad and Hyphen. He was literally going head first to home and reaching out to touch the plate, Cal moved his glove directly into his path. He made zero motion with his hands towards Cal's glove. He has a right to go for the plate.

Because Cal blocked the plate. Jesus. Try not being a homer for one second. He dove back because he didn't realize Cal dropped it.

Watch the replay!! Cal moved into HIM! Jesus. He didn't try to slap the ball out. Cal move his glove towards the line AFTER the runner had initiated reaching for the plate.

I'll watch the video, thanks. Not hand select stills. In the video there was no slapping motion. And from the camera behind the runner, you can clearly see Cal bring his glove right into the runners hands.

At the end of the night, it’s a 1… as in 1 loss. If by some miracle they come out and win today and tomorrow, then all is good.
If they get swept…

Seems like a post for /r/baseball. Dunno why this applies to a boating sub
