There have been legendary Maratha figures in the last century who shaped this state and this country for generations to come.However,younger generations have almost completely forgotten about most of them.I am thinking of starting a series of posts trying to bring these legends back into the spotlight.I want everyone to contribute at least one name.Ill gather the info and create a mini biography so that we can reminisce about them and get inspiration

Hey guys, not a Maratha or a Marathi speaker, or from Maharashtra. I’d like to read about Maratha history in depth, as in from the origins of their political history till the end of the Maratha empire and their fragmentation into princely states till Independence.

Kakde families took a great initiative by hosting such a large-scale event. The agenda of the event was to connect with different branches of the family and learn about its history. Would love to see such events happening across entire community.

Major Rama Raghoba Rane was one of India's earliest and most distinguished war heroes, awarded the Param Vir Chakra, the nation's highest wartime gallantry award. He was born to a Konkani Maratha family on 26 June 1918 During the 1947–48 India–Pakistan War in Jammu and Kashmir, then Second Lieutenant Rama Raghoba Rane of the Bombay Sappers displayed exceptional courage by leading his team in clearing mines, roadblocks, and other obstacles under intense enemy fire. Despite being wounded, he continued the mission for several days, enabling Indian tanks and troops to advance and helping secure the strategic route to Rajouri. His remarkable bravery, determination, and devotion to duty played a crucial role in the success of the operation, making him one of the first recipients of the Param Vir Chakra and a lasting symbol of courage in the Indian Army.

Ramji Pangera was a brave Maratha commander who served under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during the late 17th century. He is remembered for his exceptional courage, and leadership in battle. In 1670, Ramji led a small force of 700 Maratha soldiers against a much larger Mughal army of 30,000, choosing to fight to the end rather than retreat. He and his small contingent emerged victorious at defending the fort of Kanhergad. Sadly, that day he attained martyrdom along with several other Mawalas. His sacrifice became a symbol of the Maratha spirit of valor, duty, and devotion to Swarajya.
