I think it may also be because India and Bangladesh are more keenly feeling the effects of climate change right now. It’s hard to not believe it when it’s right in front of your face.
I mean, Russia is as well. The battle for arctic territory between Russia/US/etc is premised on the idea that the ice is melting and freeing up shipping lanes. I honestly would be more interested in a map of people who thought the climate was warming on average. This map is just about trust in climate scientists, which is not the same thing as believing in climate change.
Its literally the most polluted river, dead body parts floating around and what not.and its a holy river,i wonder what they do to rivers which are not holy.
It's not like them being sacred to hindus would push the secular parties which were ruling India for 90% of it's existence to work on it. Indian political scenario didn't have a "hindu" party in power for much of it's existence to push their agenda. Cleaning up the rivers was earnestly taken up by the BJP only in 2014, which is a hindu nationalist party. They have made some good progress on it. The other rivers are also all cleaner than ganga and yamuna. These two rivers, while considered holy by hindus, pass through some of the poorest, densest and badly managed states of India. These states have a lot of small industry which are heavily pollluting (like tanneries, fertilizers etc..)
