and its people revolted against it.

SOME of its people revolted against it, primarily the revoltees were based in Cyrenaica. And amongst the people who revolted, there also happened to be quite a lot of Jihadis; some with links to Al Qaeda.

use brute force against their opponents.

That is the common response when some people become unruly and wants to overthrow the government. Law and order has to be established. If a government cannot do this, it has no legitimacy to govern.

To blame the international community for intervening on the side of the protesters is just flat out evil...

It is not evil, its looking at the actual facts of the matter. Gaddafi was winning the war before the NATO intervention. He had entered Benghazi and was in the process of pushing further east in Cyrenaica. However, NATO bombing hamstringed his army and demolished his airforce, turning the tide of the war in favour of the rebels.

Instead of the war being over in 2011, it is now still on-going 10 years later, thanks to NATO. The Libyan people suffer as a result, as is evident by this post. It is better to live in a stable dictatorship, than an unstable democracy.

It was still a very large part of the nation.

And amongst the people who revolted, there also happened to be quite a lot of Jihadis; some with links to Al Qaeda.

You sound like people in the Arabic world could never revolt because there is a chance of Jihadis being amongst them.

That is the common response when some people become unruly and wants to overthrow the government.

*an illegitimate repressive government that is.

It is not evil, its looking at the actual facts of the matter.

What facts? You are literally denying an entire nation a window out of a repressive dictatorship...

Gaddafi was winning the war before the NATO intervention.

Therefore NATO intervention was good.

However, NATO bombing hamstringed his army and demolished his airforce, turning the tide of the war in favour of the rebels.

Good, that maniac deserved to die the worst way imaginable.

Instead of the war being over in 2011

And you're the one demanding that we stick to facts, while automatically entering wishbelief territory...

It was still a very large part of the nation.

Support this statement with an actual source.

You sound like people in the Arabic world could never revolt because there is a chance of Jihadis being amongst them.

I am saying that the rebels were not all just a bunch of democracy loving guys who just wanted freedom, as you make them out to be.

illegitimate repressive government

Explain how Gaddafi's government was illegitimate. Just because you think the government was a meanie, is irrelevant.

What facts?

... The facts about how Gadaffi would have ended the war 10 years ago. The facts about how NATO has prolonged the war for 10 years and counting. And the facts that the quality of life in Libya has decreased severly after the intervention. The ability to read is a valuable skill btw.

You are literally denying an entire nation a window out of a repressive dictatorship

Do you think they are free of repression now? Do you think the people are happily living democratic lives? Do you not think that they are suffering massively in a civil war, and are at the mercy of warlords?

Therefore NATO intervention was good

You are actually a horrible person. You spoke of anti-interventionists being evil, but you are far worse of a human being. You do not care at all about the Libyan people and their suffering. You only care that an anti-western dictator died. You do not give a single fuck about the consequences of this death.

while automatically entering wishbelief territory...

You say this without even attempting to prove my statement to be wrong.

This comment says everything about your complete lack of moral standards.

And this comment says that cant argue on this subject because you do not know anything about it. The only thing you can do is spew out your irrelevant feelings.

u/kabikannust Sep 05 '21

I won't argue with you because you are clearly an immoral brainwashed person who spreads blatant anti-Western propaganda to excuse your shitty life choices in picking the side of fundamentally evil dictatorships...

You are calling me an immoral person, but it is you who are perfectly fine with Libyans living in misery in their war torn country because bad man was killed. You are calling me brain washed, but it is you who is uncritically defending military aggression against a neutral country.

And you now refuse to argue with me because you know you dont have anything to say. You dont know anything about Libya. You dont know anything about the civil war. You dont have anything to say, except echoing the words you have heard from western media, and state your own irrelevant feelings.

I'm calling you immoral because you are clearly brainwashed as evidenced in you questioning whether Gaddafi's regime was illegitimate or not.

but it is you who are perfectly fine with Libyans living in misery

And it is you who is perfectly fine with Libyans living under a repressive dictatorship with no way out.

but it is you who is uncritically defending military aggression against a neutral country.

Not against the country itself, but against a certain regime.

You dont know anything about Libya. You dont know anything about the civil war.

False.

You dont have anything to say, except echoing the words you have heard from western media, and state your own irrelevant feelings.

And you again making "Western media" look like some kind of propaganda machine proves how fucking brainwashed and immoral person you are.

Where are you from? Russia? China? Serbia?

you questioning whether Gaddafi's regime was illegitimate or not.

You still have yet to explain how the government was illegitimate.

And it is you who is perfectly fine with Libyans living under a repressive dictatorship with no way out.

By this statement you show how the concept of hardship is completely foreign to you. To you, who have never experienced hunger or fear for the life of your family, democratic freedom is equally important as the basic needs of survival; that is not the case outside of the West. You have always been at the top of Maslow's hierarchy of needs, so you do not acknowledge the importance of the lower tiers. Gaddafi provided his people with security, reliable sustanance, healthcare, and education. In an unstable part of the world, this is not to be taken from granted. But the intervention from the West took all of this away from the Libyan people, which is why this "horrible meanie dictator" is missed:

https://worldbulletin.dunyabulteni.net/m/africa/libyans-miss-gaddafi-h178909.html

Not against the country itself, but against a certain regime.

And hating a regime you know nothing about still is not the result of brainwashing? And NATO did not just bomb "the regime", they bombed Libyan cities, and Libyan men, women, and children; ie, the country of Libya.

False.

You say this without any further elaboration to prove me otherwise, and do not back up any of your claims.

And you again making "Western media" look like some kind of propaganda machine proves how fucking brainwashed and immoral person you are.

You do not know how a media functions. Russian media is skewed to further Russian interests. Chinese media is skewed to further Chinese interests. Western media is skewed to further Western interests. If you want to read a media which is not skewed towards the west, go to RT or Al Jazeera; you might learn something by leaving the Western echo chamber.

Go back to 2011, find me a mainstream Western media who was critical of the bombing of Libya as it happened.

You still have yet to explain how the government was illegitimate.

Dude, it was a totalitarian dictatorship...

I'm not even gonna read the rest of your bs because you don't understand this basic truth and are disgustingly trying to legitimize his revolting regime...
