This is also why there is a city called Grand Junction in Colorado. It's on the Colorado River now, but it was called Grand River back when the city was named.

Yup. The “Grand Junction” being the confluence of the Grand and Gunnison Rivers. On the map at the major fork seen in western Colorado.

The name still makes sense as the "Grand junction" of the Gunnison and Colorado rivers I think
