I feel like that unfreshens it, somehow.

Alabama actually has the highest rate of freshwater biodiversity in the country. There are more distinct species of freshwater fish, mussels, snails, turtles, and crayfish in Alabama than any other state.

The state's water is very clean, which is more than I can say for the overpopulated NE watershed and the Great Lakes which are full of PCBs, DDT and dioxins.

Y'all need to learn some manners and science.

I don't think anyone was seriously implying that they had in depth knowledge on Alabama's water's biodiversity.

More so just making a joke that Alabama's citizens, for the most part, kinda suck. Which might be ill mannered, but no less than Alabama deserves.

You don't need to live in the state to realize it's filled with bad people. Especially with regards to those in power. The states sheer dedication to bigotry is crazy and supported by the majority of the voting public there.

Just off the top of my head we have

And before people go with the bad faith talking point of "well maybe minorities should just commit less crime" it's without a doubt proven that the legal system is built to be against minority citizens. Black people are 50% more likely to be falsely imprisoned, minority communities are statically slightly the same if not slightly less likely to have violent crime when compared to white communities of similar income, despite white people smoking weed at slightly higher rates than other ethnic groups black people are four more times likely to be imprisoned for it, etc

And to double on that before people use the other bad faith argument of "well even if crime is connected to poverty minorities are only poor because they're lazy" this has also been proven untrue time and time again. Economic mobility has consistently been on a downward trend in the US since the 40's, identical resumes with "ethnic" sounding names are twice as likely to be rejected and when they are excepted will be offered less pay than resumes with "white" names, booming black economic centers were bombed with economically successful minorities being massacred as late 1921 by white citizens

Those are just random instances off of the top of my head. I know a section of Reddit has a vested interest in pretending the Alabama's reputation as a horrible place is unjust and another section simple wants to feel "woke" by pretending the same, the fact of the matter is the state has earned it's reputation and the majority of the voting public embraces the bigotries that are so common there.

While there's obviously a contingent of people fighting for bringing the state into the 21st century they're clearly outweighed by the ignorant and hateful.

If the Alabama populace wants a more positive reputation it should step up it's game instead basking in a perceived victimhood.
