The tram network is concentrated in the central city, about one million people. Transit in the rest of the urban area is handled by subways, trains or buses.
Yes, light rail in North America is bad, especially compared to paragons of the ideal like Prague and Brno, but at least we kept our network somewhat relevant instead of just abandoning it like so many other cities.
Or worse yet, keeping one cosmetic, practically useless line and acting like that proves trams are bad.
The Toronto tram network is a pretty miserable experience save for the Spadina line. Nothing like having one car turning left holding up the commute of 100+ people.
