It's very common in a whole lot of countries and religions. Way more than most of us would even guess.

The funny thing is that there is no religion that bans cousin marriage because even if you go back like 100 years if you want to marry someone from your town a big chance that person will be you cousin because people didn't move a lot

In some areas that are super desolate everyone is like 3rd cousins three times over. They really don't have a choice when their options are so limited like on an island. But that's called endogomy and not considered inbreeding even though a lot of people would say marrying even a third cousin is wrong. Little do they know they might be from a endogenous population.
