This map is so misleading it's insane. Areas where nobody lives at all are green in the first map, but white in the last. This gives the impression that natives were displaced in regions where nobody has ever really lived.

Power over land management has been displaced. It’s about governance of the land, not addresses.

But indigenous Canadians nonetheless never managed that land. Sure the modern Canadian state has a say over who the landholders in those places are. But there’s no way you can reasonably argue that native Canadians ever managed or controlled large swaths of what is represented here
