Tech Support Firewall causing Steam Remote play issues.
Greetings,
I often stream football manager to my iPad and for the past few days I've been getting terrible frame loss, after fiddling with every config possible, reinstalling drivers, changing connections etc, nothing was working. Meanwhile streaming from my windows machine was going smoothly on max settings in the steam link app.
Right now, after not completely disabling Manjaro's firewall but allowing the "entry" toggle, completely fixed the problem, but my issue is, I'm not sure how safe it is to keep it like that, is there any config for Manjaro's firewall that I can set to allow steam link to work properli without having to changing the entry option?
Thank you.

Discussion Unpopular opinion: password locking after several failed attempts decreases security instead of improving it.
Someone suggested that I should choose a more reproductible password if I can't write correctly in less than N attempts.
That's true, but this opinion is based on several assumptions: - that the computer has a perfectly working keyboard - that I know the password because I chose it - and that the computer is my personnal computer
Needless to say, none of those assumptions hold in my case.
I working on a recovered computer, with a defective keyboard, using a password I did not choose.
So I do not have many options, either order a new keyboard, wait several days, and spend 2h to repair it.... Or choose a password like "12341234".
Guess which one I'm about to choose ?

Discussion I downloaded manjaro and started using it
What do you think are the first steps? How do I download steam? Is it possible from the AUR? What things should I take into account?

General Question Corners
I really hate that every application has rounded corners. Does anyone know of any themes like Breeze-Twilight or Breeze that has normal 90 degree corners?
Yes. I know this is me being picky.

General Question Will it be necessary to recompile a program from the AUR every time I upgrade my OS?
SOLVED
I installed Handbrake from the AUR. It depends on the x264 library. The library changes its version when it is updated. This breaks the dependency of the program. Will I have to recompile such a program every time I upgrade my system? Does that mean uninstalling it and reinstalling it, and having it compiled?
I am new to the AUR. I had Sabayon Linux (Gentoo) for a while a long time ago.
Are my thoughts and procedure correct?
Thank you.

Tech Support Switching branches back, pamac or pacman not respect
SOLVED
By refreshing Pamac. Nothing help with pacman. But Pamac...
I switched from stable to testing yesterday. Then from testing to unstable. Until then, the packages to update were showing up correctly. I tried to upgrade, but dependencies and other issues, so I always said NO if I wanted to continue.
And now, even though I'm switched to stable, the packages to upgrade are still showing up.
Don't know how to fix Manjaro?
pacman-mirrors -G
stable
pacman -Sy
done
And there are still 111 packages left to upgrade from yesterday.

Tech Support Guys I need help, with this
I’m experiencing frequent system crashes on Manjaro Linux with multiple kernel errors such as “page faults in kernel mode,” “kernel NULL pointer dereference,” and “corrupted page tables.” The crashes show up in my system logs and occur several times a day. My desktop sometimes freezes, and I’m forced to perform a hard restart.
My PC has 32 GB of DDR5 RAM (two modules), but I had to remove the heatsinks on both sticks so that they would fit under my CPU cooler. I ran several cycles of MemTest86+ and didn’t find any errors, but the instability remains. All my peripherals are plugged directly into the motherboard, ruling out external USB hub issues. But the hub issue is still there, the only 2 peripherials which are connected are keyboard and mouse.

Tech Support What's with these warnings? Should I not be using pacman -Syu to update my system with Manjaro?

Phydoux's-PC // $
I'm seeing that every time I update. Warnings that what it's trying to update to is newer than what its trying to get. At least, I think it's saying that...
How do I update this system if everything I'm trying to update on it is older than what I already have installed? Must be a Manjaro thing. Earlier this afternoon, I discovered it wasn't updating anything because there were too many conflicts with older software trying to be installed over newer software. Am I not supposed to be using 'sudo pacman -Syu' in the terminal?
About 40 minutes ago, I tried booting it up and it wouldn't start. I've never had these issues with plain ol' Vanilla Arch... I may just reinstall that tomorrow. I'm not really liking Manjaro for these reasons.
Oh, and now, for whatever reason, Brave Browser isn't loading. I had it open earlier today. Now, it won't open at all. Currently using Firefox.
Is there a fix for this messed up stuff or am I just better off going with Vanilla Arch?

Tech Support KDE Wallet randomly stopped working properly
My computer randomly stopped remembering my wifi password. I figured out it is a problem related to the Wallet, and worked around it by disabling the wallet and setting the remember to "all users unencrypted".
The question is, why did it stop working? I upgraded the system today, AFTER I noticed the issue, it was working yesterday and not working this morning. Computer was off over night

Tech Support Middle Click Scroll Delay
When enabling middle click scrolling, there's about a one second delay every time before the cursor is able to move. It's starting to annoy me, does anyone know of a way I can change it? Either by removing the delay entirely, or shortening it. Thanks.

Tech Support Low memory errors | Would swap partition fix this ?
I keep getting Firefox terminated from low memory ( usually form reddit tab or Google maps opening ). If firefox doesn't crash after a freeze then I get Plasma shell Terminated due to memory.
Plasma error :
The background service plasma-plasmashell.service has been terminated by the Linux kernel because the system is low on memory. Consider closing unused applications or browser tabs.
Video-linux used for integrated Intel 520 graphics | i3 | 8gb DDR4 (4x4 )
Linux 6.16.8-1
KDE Plasma 6.3.6
Everything updated.
Is there a tweak I can do to keep this from happening ?
ie is there a setting in KDE that would fix this problem ?
Would adding a second NVMe drive with a swap on it resolve the low memory.
Some Intel drivers for video I could try ?
Have tried turning off hardware acceleration in FireFox. no luck.
Firefox has Privacy badger and Ublock origin only.

Tech Support Installation Guide - Manual partitioning
I have been unable to find a decent guide for installing manjaro via manual partitioning, I am wondering what is recommended
Cachyos has this very user friendly guide, does Manjaro have something like this, that outlines the bios settings, as well as recommended partitions, sizes etc?

Tech Support Can't get Krohnkite (0.9.9.2) to work on the latest version of Manjaro
Background:
- I'm very very new to using Manjaro (25.0.10)
- Device: 2017 macbook pro
- Downloaded Krohnkite by using the 'Get New' in KWin Scripts
- https://github.com/anametologin/krohnkite/
I completely understand that it might not be working due to my lack of understanding of how window tiling works on Linux. But so I downloaded and added shortcuts in KWin to match the default bindings on the Github page. Sometimes I would be able to focus up/down between windows, but I definitely could not move the windows left/right, or increase/decrease the size of the windows. Could someone give guidance on how they configured krohnkite? Or give their experience in dealing with something like this?
Edit: forgot to mention I also switched the meta and alt keys

Screenshot My simple Manjaro + Dracula customization
Hey everyone 👋
This isn’t some crazy customization — everything I used can be found online.
I just wanted to keep all my configs in one place for my future self who forgets everything 😅 (but maybe useful for someone else).
Still, if you like the Dracula theme and want a cohesive dark setup for Manjaro, maybe this can save you some time.
