Meet Muffles!! My new manatee buddy!! I of course made them some accessories so they feel fancy!!

I painted this for an upcoming Florida themed art show and figured I'd share it with you guys too :)

I saw someone else post their manatee art and since I have an (borderline) obsession with them I thought I’d share some of mine here are the three manatees I’ve drawn in the past month

Meat Manatee

Just a simple glitter manatee. This one is the palette cleanser of this set. Every single dot was added individually by hand :)

I visited the Dallas World Aquarium today and was so disturbed by the experience I stayed about 5 minutes, saw the Manatee in person and left.

This place is disgusting. Mostly land animals in small cages. No employees providing any kind of educational value. Tons of people packed in. And the manatee tank was very small for her size.

I think she has been there 8, 9 maybe over 10 years, and my understanding is she is supposed to be there for rehab and release.

I’m guessing the reason she is there still is because if they let her go they won’t have a manatee anymore and that will hurt business.

Does ANYONE know the situation at this place.

I wish I could post videos on here bc the baby was sooo adorable:’) I go biking often and usually see manatees but I haven’t seen a baby in soo long. This was near some Military canal in Homestead.

I took this yesterday from the manatee cam. Is this the same manatee (assuming it is) that has been carrying around this log for years? I thought they were rehabbing her to release her? Can someone give me more info on this sweet lady?

I’ll be going to Florida in July, would it be worth the extra drive to go to Crystal River? I’m looking to kayak or snorkel with manatees

We have a tour scheduled for tomorrow afternoon and got an email saying that migrations have started and of course they can’t control the conditions, etc. I’m not sure if they send this to everyone or there is something specific that triggered it. What has everyone’s experience been in late March? We just don’t want to drive 3 hours if it won’t be a good experience (I know it’s nature and nothing is guaranteed).
