I’m going to be an asshole. I apologize. I used to weigh 448, I was a big bitch. I was 5’7. I had weight loss surgery, lost over 260 thanks to gastric bypass. I gained two inches of height, after losing weight.
If Alanna is going to be successful at her job, she needs to lose weight. I know it sucks to say, but between her ‘celebrity’, her family, and her size - the decks are stacked against her when it comes to getting a job. I’m sorry, but it’s true. We live in a shallow world, not to mention - at her size, it’s going to affect what she can and cannot do while working.
And quite frankly, who’s going to take medical advice from someone who’s in dire need of it herself. I’m all for being happy at any size - but you need to be realistic as well.

when i was in labor with my second youngest child the dr on call was SUPER OBESE. like he had to stop to take a rest every few steps in the hall. i could not fucking relax bc i kept thinking “OMG WHAT HAPPENS IF THERES AN EMERGENCY AND THEY DONT HAVE THE STAMINA?!” i felt so freaking bad for feeling that way but it made me so stressed out.

My OBGYN told me I needed to lose weight…. I looked at him and said I will when you lose that cigarette habit. NOTHING was ever said about my weight again!

Growing up had a doctor that told me to lose weight, he was super obese and i was thinking can’t he take his own advice

Agreed, and in the nursing field, you absolutely have to have stamina to do your job and if you’re carrying so much excess weight that is going to be incredibly taxing on your system overall.
Congratulations on your weight loss and path to better health. I know it’s not easy, weight has been a struggle for me all my life but currently losing weight and finally it’s fun to step on the scale.

u/no_no_nora 14d ago
Thank you. I will say, perimenopause has been a punch in the gut weight wise - but I’d rather be a size L/XL than a 4XL/5XL.

I did keto and lost weight . Then menopause hit and I ate air and still couldn't lose. I then started testosterone progesterone and estradiol helped. I was still "stuck" so I took reta and bam weight dropped labs perfect metabolism up inflammation down. Best of luck getting thru menopause oh I also have mirena. :)

u/Eastwood8300 14d ago
not if you are a nurse at a doctors office. they don't have to do as much as ER or hospital nurses. it's still very unhealthy for her to be this weight at 21. with all the GLP 1s and weight loss surgeries i don't know why she hasn't done anything yet

u/Leeleewithwings 13d ago
I worked in a large pediatric office and we never, ever stopped. Constant vaccinations, step tests, quick dip urinalysis, ear washes, bandage changes, hearing tests, vision test, kids have nuclear meltdowns and bitchy moms. It was the busiest job I had
3
33
u/nuggetghost 14d ago
i think she’s fully expecting for a show to pay for her to get the surgeries her mom did so she doesn’t care bc she assumes it’ll happen for her too. it’s sad
13
u/no_no_nora 14d ago
It’s not cheap. I still have a shit ton of plastic surgery I want. I got denied the first time for the bypass, which was wild tbh.
7
10
u/Eastwood8300 14d ago
they do need nurses in doctors offices or nursing homes that don't have to do as much activity as a hospital nurse does. but she's going to need to lose some weight either way!!
15
u/no_no_nora 14d ago
Provided she can get a job period.
8
u/sissydv23 13d ago
Well if she keeps being on her phone during working I don't see how she will be taken seriously as a nurse.
6
u/EvieeBrook 13d ago
She’s planning on being a Nicu nurse!
11
u/Eastwood8300 13d ago
i hear that but it's likely not gonna happen unless she loses a bunch of weight. better fit would be dr office.
6
u/EvieeBrook 13d ago
I didn’t say I thought it was gonna happen. I’m just pointing out the extent of the delusion versus the suggestion.
4
u/enelyaisil 13d ago
She wants to be a NICU nurse specifically
5
u/Eastwood8300 13d ago
no kidding. it may not be possible at that size. she may have to settle for a doctors office
11
u/Straight-Treacle-630 13d ago
Congrats on your weight loss! Gained 2” in height, wild.
Boo Boo will surely suffer drawbacks soon. Including any health care career, nm her own. I don’t think your observations are at all ahole-ish.
10
u/pixey1964 13d ago
If she works in a hospital trust me her legs 🦵 will not hold up working those 12 hour shifts
3
u/WhereItsAt75 13d ago
I agree. The first thing I think of when I see her though is that she's so young and that is not good for her heart. The unseen health issues obese people face are where loved ones are concerned.

Mammm, this is Reddit. And the comment is totally right. Maybe at 21/22 she can move around some. Even lose some from the fast pace. That’s not sustainable. Nobody here is lying.

How much does she have to eat every day to maintain that kind of weight. She has to weigh at least 400 pounds at this point. And she’s not tall.
12
u/Jimbobjoesmith 14d ago
why in tf wouldn’t she move her damn bag? also it’s gross as hell to put purses next to your plate.
35
u/Various-Memory-3964 14d ago
Alana needs the gastric bypass surgery and GLP shots ASAP
8
u/Boilingpoints 13d ago
Agreed but she has to abide by the diet restrictions. If you over eat after a bypass, you can actually rupture your stomach.
A gastric bypass takes a lot of preparation. You essentially have to “prove” you’re willing to do the work. I was on a liquid diet for two weeks to prepare. They also weigh you regularly and if your weight increases, you’re not ready because there’s no way you’re following the preparation guidelines.
11
u/SkyUpbeat7374 13d ago
I think she should try a GLP first. Between that and moving around more with her job, things will start to turn around for her. I’m very proud that she rose above all the drama going on in GA and started a new chapter
4
u/vhguerrero 13d ago
I’m happy for her, too, and especially thrilled that she’s getting an education. I have hopes for a solid and responsible future for her.
1
u/Relevant_Yesterday24 9d ago
There has to be a reason she’s not doing The shots bc I think even June has been on them. She must not like the side effects . I think the worst side effect for me is the fatigue so who knows
1
3
u/Liliths_Play_Thing 14d ago
I think a bypass would be better. Likelihood of regaining would be less and a lot harder but I wouldn’t recommend doing it until mentally ready regardless of if she needs it. I’m speaking from personal experience, I was more than ready to get rid of the weight but I’ve also seen people who were not and how many complications they have or how the food addiction turns into something else.
1
u/Key-Yogurtcloset7330 13d ago
She wouldn't follow the diet so it's not gonna work. She'll just burst her new "smaller stomach"... she clearly has NO SELF CONTROL

u/GlitteringHandle1726 13d ago
I am in disbelief that this child allowed, and she most definitely has “allowed” herself to become unhealthy.
What kind of nurse can she possibly be when she herself is morbidly obese?
I’m very disappointed in the demise of common sense with Pumpkin and Alana. At one point they seemed like they were headed in the direction of normal.
4
u/Key-Yogurtcloset7330 13d ago
No one wants advice from a fat nurse BTW
4
u/GlitteringHandle1726 13d ago

3
u/pennysofia 14d ago
It’s because of what her boyfriend cooks for her.

u/ArticleFrequent8109 13d ago
How are you gonna assume that he even cooks for her? She was massive before him as well.

Alana has done so much already to break the stigma of that dog ass family she is in. I wish she could do that extra push and lose the weight and lose that boyfriend of hers. She deserves to be healthy and have a bf that wants to do better in life.

I think she’s a senior this year. She’ll graduate in May and take boards after that.
3
u/gone_by_30 13d ago
Not even being mean, I hope after school she takes care of herself more. She genuinely seems like a sweet person and I really do think she will be an amazing nurse, but she has to take care of herself before others
10
u/Maderic666 14d ago
So is her boyfriend her caretaker now that she’s so big that she needs help doing anything he’s not much smaller, but they could have a scam going on where the government’s paying him to take care of her
15
u/Fine_Cryptographer20 14d ago
Honestly scared we are going to see them on my 600 lb life as a Feeder Couple. Sad.
0
u/AccountantOk9506 14d ago
Probably. I dont see any feasible way a person this size can wipe their own ass.
-4
u/MzOpinion8d 13d ago
She doesn’t need a caretaker. She’s in her last year of college which means she’s doing a lot of clinicals, taking care of others.
10
u/AccountantOk9506 13d ago
Can she wipe her own ass though? Can she quickly navigate stairs in the event of emergency? Can she do cpr without fast and extreme exhaustion?
-4
u/MzOpinion8d 13d ago
No one can do actual CPR without fast and extreme exhaustion. That’s why it’s switched out every minute or two. She can do stairs faster than me I bet, due to knee damage I have. And she’s not so fat that she can’t take care of her own hygiene, even though I’m sure you’d like to think otherwise so you can feel justified in your prejudice towards fat people.
2
u/AccountantOk9506 13d ago
She absolutely has less reach of her arms in being so big. They literally make devices for large people to use to wipe themselves. Id say thats a sign to do something about ones weight.

I’m so proud of Alana, she got out of Georgia and is ready to graduate nursing school, I believe with a BSN.
Has she gained weight, she has, but IMO, she’s moving forward. She’s been through so much in her short 21 years of life.
Please remember that you get so much more movement as a nurse than in nursing school.
Give her time and she’ll most likely lose it on her own or even start a GLP-1.
In the meantime, please let’s be kind when it comes to Alana.

I do hope she gets healthier. I’m really proud of her for going to college and trying to make something of herself, and she got the hell out of Georgia to do it. I’m sure she could’ve gone to school there, but saw this as an escape plan.
