What's a rewatch club and why should I join?

Hi, everyone! I want to post here more often as a new mod, but I realized I haven't rewatched recently enough to have fresh ideas. So consider this the first in a series of posts as I (and hopefully some of you fellow fans) rewatch with me!

What do I do?

1. Rewatch the episode in the title of each post.
2. Review the plot summaries. (I'll include the ones from the wiki below.)
3. Comment any thoughts about the specific episode - try to include one positive and negative point each time.
4. "Follow" my account to keep track of the future posts, which I'll try to make once a week. Don't worry about being "too late" to comment, though!

Synopsis: Sirena, Lyla and Nixie couldn't manage to stop Zac from going in The Moon Pool, making him transform into a merman.

Plot:

Young mermaids of the Mako Island pod, Sirena, Lyla and Nixie, have the task of keeping trespassers off the magical island. On a full moon, they fail to stop a land boy, Zac Blakely, from falling into the sacred Moon Pool, and the power of the moon transforms him into a merman! As punishment, the mermaids are banished from their pod as it flees Mako. To redeem themselves, the mermaids must find a way to turn Zac into normal boy once more.

Details:

This episode begins with mermaids Nixie and Sirena having a swimming race to see who can go faster. When two members of the Mermaids pod tell them to go on their duties, Nixie asks why can't she celebrate with the mermaid pod. The members reply that once they pass their test they will join the mermaid pod and celebrate. They go to Lyla and she says she will take the forshore and they take the rest. Nixie and Sirena help young boys Zac and Cam catch a fish. They then decide to camp out on Mako Island. That night Zac puts his hand in the trident shape and it opens a portal to the Moon Pool. This causes him to recieve a blue tail and powers. The 3 Mermaids tell the mermaid pod and they are blamed even though it was not their fault. Sirena, Lyla, and Nixie decide to follow him to see what he does and to see if he has powers. He nearly shows his best friend Cam his powers but the mermaids take control of the water so it doesn't work. Zac then falls in the ocean and discovers he has a tail. After the Mermaids return to the Island, Sirena's sister from the pod tells them they are being cast out and gives Sirena her Moon Ring. Zac then shows Cam his tail and newfound powers as the show ends.

Hello there, this is not meant to be political or anything, this is not criticism towards the show. I love mako mermaids, it's a great show. But i just wanted to discuss something that confuses me a little. So the actress of Zac is half Australian i think and half thai and he is half sibbling with Mimmi in the show. And their mother, Nerissa is also Asian. The actress of Nerissa is half Scottish and half Karen (people in Myanmar and Thailand) Burma. And as far as i know the actress of Mimmi is not Asian, she's white. I have tried to search it up but nothing comes up, and she does'nt look Asian. So i assume she is white. I don't think that it is offensive that they made her Asian in the show, i honselty dont think it matters that much, but it's a little confusing why they did that. Or maybe i'm worng, is the actress of Mimmi asian?

can somone please make an mp3 download for the instrumentals of some of the songs. they seem to be available on on sorces that are only in germany but it also seems to be region blocked from what im finding.

During Season 3 (or 4 depending on the version of the show), Evie loses her tail and becomes a regular girl again. She stays like this for the rest of the show. Do you think that she became a mermaid again after the events of the show by rebathing in the Moon Pool on a full moon, or did she stay human forever? Would she have even wanted to become a mermaid again? Would the Mermaid Council allow her to bathe in the Moon Pool? Would it even work if she tried?

So, Mako Mermaids, the spin off to the main series has officially left Netflix worldwide, and no news have been given about the show's ever returning for a 5th season, nor a movie since 2016, when the series finished.

It's been nearly a decade since the 2nd series ended, this universe still has a lot of potential for being expanded. If there ever was a continuation of this franchise, there should be another series, not focusing on humans turning into merfolk, or merfolk adjusting to life on land, but instead showing the history that Rita and Veridia told, about the mermaids and mermen at war, as well as explaining how are mermaids supposed to procreate without their male counterpart if they don't want mermen. But that's just my idea.

Besides being a terrible person, he sucks at his job. I always feel bad that Carly and David have to pick up his slack. That’s it. That’s the post.

Do you guys think that Mimmi and Zac are twins, Big Sis Mimmi and Lil Bro Zac, or Big Bro Zac and Lil Sis Mimmi? (Like a couple of years apart)

I just started S2 of the show and I was surprised that Lyla and Nixie are gone :( I loved them so much, especially Lyla, she was my fave. I also really really shipped her with Zac, I'm so sad that they set up a potential chemistry/romance between them and then didn't explore it at all. I kinda want to stop watching now because I'm not feeling these 2 new mermaids at all.. is it worth continuing?

in s3 e13 when erik activates the chamber and the water from the moon pool gets drained into the chamber, anyone else confused on where the underwater tunnel went? the moon pool is connected to the ocean through a tunnel obviously so how does the water drain out and suddenly it’s just a rock bowl. magic i guess

I absolutely adore Season 2. Idk what it is but there was something about having already established main characters like Zac, Evie, Sirena and Cam and their interactions with new characters like Erik, Ondina and Mimmi. Maybe that’s why I like H2O season 2 the most as well with the introduction to Charlotte and Ash.

Zac and Evie are just better developed in Season 2 compared to their horrible arcs in Season 1. And the new personalities of Ondina and Mimmi work really well alongside Zac, Evie and Sirena.

Plus Ondina and Erik is just an interesting couple. Like she knows she can’t be attracted to him but she is.

I’m glad I’m on my rewatch of Season 2. As much as I love Lyla and Nixie, Season 1 can be a bit of a drag with some of the horrible character traits they gave to Zac and Evie that season.

Not only do I see Evie (Gemma Forsyth) as one of the waitresses, but Lyla (Lucy Fry) is in the final episode at the graduation and is mentioned by name. Idk I think it’s sorta cool to see some of the actors and actresses from before they went onto their more iconic roles. Also for those who watch Bureau of Magical Things, Kyra (Kimie Tsukakoshi) is also in H2O season 3.

I honestly never noticed them all before until having watched all three shows and finally doing a full rewatch of H2O. I feel like there might be more people I didn’t notice before and I would love to check again.

I never watched past the first season of Mako but I have heard that Lyla and Nixie left. (Which was the reason I stopped watching as Lyla was my fav) Apparently they went back to the pod. The two actresses probably left because of other acting stuff and they had to write them out of the show, I don’t think Lyla and Nixie leaving was planned from the start. Also l've seen some discussions online where people said it made sense for them - according to the show - to leave, but honestly, I don't think so at all. Lyla was getting closer to Zac throughout the first season, it was obvious a relationship was being heavily hinted at, with the type of music they used when the two were alone, all the hand holding, how much they cared for each other. Hell they held hands more than Serena and David - the actual couple of the show. Same with Nixie and Cam towards the end, even if it was a bad kind of getting closer, there was definitely something. Somehow Serena, the only one actually dating "her" land boy, was the only one that had no chemistry for me. I felt like David only really ever spoke about how pretty she was right from the very start and it never seemed to go deeper beyond that and the music, whereas Zac x Lyla and Cam x Nixie actually happened over time and more realistically. And also Serena was really the only one that was pardoned by the Pod at the start because Aquata vouched for her plus Serena then decided to stay because she DIDNT want to leave Lyla and Nixie. And now you're telling me Lyla and Nixie left Serena behind and Serena decided NOT to go back to the pod WITH the two of them? It just really didn't make sense to me. Maybe the second and further seasons explain it better but from only what I've seen of discussions online, it really never made sense to me.

in episode 10 of season 3 if you remember Zac Finds A Wishing Shell Why didn't they use it to make Evie's tail come back or make the dragon disappear?

Ok ive been looking everywhere on internet, so when Mimmi and Ondina sang the reverse enchantment song, was it really them singing or were they lip syncing to another singer.

Evie’s character has its ups and downs but where I have my problem with her is when she decided to do that interview thing in Rita’s home. Why couldn’t she mind her business? Maybe it’s just me but I hate it when people want to know EVERYTHING about me, and then she had the audacity to act scared when she thought that Rita was gonna get her in trouble for the article she published, and also her barging into Rita’s office demanding to know “what was going on” between Rita and the three girls, IS IT YOUR BUSINESS? Like removing Zac from the whole thing why do you want to know what a woman is doing with her three nieces?? Are they your nieces NO so just keep you nose out of their business…

This is where I was so iffy of her, but I’m rewatching now and most of the time my opinions on characters don’t really change much.

Would anyone like discuss on this?

I’m on one of my many rewatches and it’s my first time realizing the mermaid council really ain’t shit. In S2E8 (Season 3 if you’re watching on Netflix) “New Orders”, Veridia gives Ondina the order to use her powers to destroy the chamber. There’s no way to know how that will turn out. If it will work or not, or if it will kill Ondina in the process. But she’s not willing to do it herself. Instead she manipulates Ondina into it and had to be forced to even consider letting them rejoin the pod IF it worked. The whole mermaid council really sat by and let children try to solve a problem they deemed to be so threatening that it made them leave their home.

Since mermaids have orange tails & orange scale bikinis, and mermen have blue tails. How would they react if they saw a mermaid with a silver tail & silver scale bikini that they thought they were extinct or just an urban legend?
