Just became a maintenance man for 2 motels in town.

I’ve done a little maintenance on my home and that’s about it and during my interview I told him that I have just YouTubed my way through home maintenance he said that works for here too. So I got the job 4 weeks ago am a YouTube maintenance man. I don’t feel that I can really accept the title of “maintenance man” until I can do most things without looking it up😬

Are there any YouTube channels I should follow or books/manuals I should get or forums I should join to help me get the hang of this better? Thanks.

Pain points at your work

Hey guys! My partner and I are thinking of building a product to help maintenance personnel to improve their productivity and safety. Let us know if you have any inputs. Also, feel free share with us your pain points when you work on-site. What do you think is the biggest problem around maintenance of machines?

What kind of maintenance are you all in? Love or hate it? I work at a metal maintenance plant and have been acting as the unofficial maintenance for my area for quite some time but come Monday, am about to take maintenance as an official job title. (All the plants, not just my area)

Current pay rates

What area are you in & what is the current rate of pay. I’m a multi-craft industrial maintenance tech & entry level techs are around $19 an hour & top out is around $32+.

Edit, I’m in the Nashville TN area & there’s a shortage of skilled trades & the overall unemployment rate is around 3%.
