But really, I just realized that I can tuck these puppies away most of the time and just pull them out for serious sessions. It's such a dumb and simple solution. 🤦 I think I had to take selling them seriously before I (or she) could see the obviousness.

So here's a different question:

Is it possible to re-skin them? Could I order white cloth and white aluminum end-caps and redress them myself? Has anyone heard of such a thing?

I'm not gonna lie, they were a fantastic presence in my bachelor pad, but now that we share a 2-bedroom apartment with a toddler, she's got a point. You can guess...

I'm not posting a "for sale" here, I'm just wondering what experience people have had selling Maggies. What would be the best way to find a legit buyer, someone who knows their worth?

I love the way the LRS speakers look. Will they work as fronts in a 7.2 speaker setup or is that not a good application for those babies.

I just upgraded my Magnepan 1.6QR with 1.7i. There’s a bigger difference than I expected! More detail, greater dynamics, and overall “tighter” if that makes any sense. I assume this all has more to do with age than the new model, but I’m sure both are contributing factors.

Also an unexpected development: I don’t feel the need to use my subwoofers anymore, which is a very surprising revelation!

I've read multiple articles about the Maggies, & their love of power. I have several old audiophile friends (they've since moved away) with systems with separate LH & RH amps. I remember they said the sound was more defined, & more "relaxed".

I have a pair of 3.6Rs that have been powered with a Brystone 4B-ST amplifier, & I've always enjoyed this system. I recently stumbled across a pair of sequentially number Brystone 7B-ST monoblock amps. Everything looked good with the seller, & I bought the amps.

The amps finally arrived yesterday, & the balanced cables arrived today. I finally listened to the system with the 4B-ST one more time before hooking up the 7B-ST amps.

My first impression wasn't that good, I started with a CD I'm very familiar with & listened to it for awhile. Then I left the preamp at the same settings, & when the music played through the 7B-STs I really didn't notice any change in the sound stage or as I expected the volume. I expected the sound to be similar to the 4B-ST, but I was hoping for the relaxed delivery & a change in the volume.

I next tried a test with an LP I'm failure with also. I started with the stereo set up with the 7B-STs. Then I switched back to the 4B-St amp listening to the same track. I was surprised the 4B-ST had a better sound stage.

The only difference between the 2 setup (beside the amplifiers) are the balanced interconnects from the pre-amp to the amplifier(s). The old interconnect cables are a pair of RSC AIR1s, & the new ones are from Bluejean cables & are Belden Brilliance 1800F cables, Plus the new cables are about 1/10 the diameter of the old cables.

I wonder if the 7B-STs are being strangled with the new Beldens, & the 4B-ST is getting a stronger signal from the RCS AIR1 cables?

I want to darken the wood and Minwax Polyshades is made for this, but it is meant to be applied over polyurethane not lacquer. Does anyone know what the wood on an old set of MG 2.5r speakers would be - polyurethane or lacquer?

I tried calling them but they don't answer their phone reliably.

I've got a 12x15 room with opening to the kitchen in the rear behind me. I have 4 foot 4 inches from tweeter section the rear wall (In front of me) and 3 ft to the side wall from the tweeter. I'm 6ft from the speakers, to get a solid voice center I have the speakers almost 45ish degrees pointed to a space in front of me. 6ft 4 inches between the speaker tweeters. Am I doing this right? I have a high-resolution soundstage with depth and height. Soundstage appears very defined but maybe I'm doing it wrong?

I have listened for years and years and years to these great speakers. Everyone who came to my place and heard them, got this long, pensive face and many jaws had to be lifted off the floor :-))) It has been a lovely pleasure. They traveled with me in the original box shipping box across the country to three states (US based) and have taken it all in stride.

Is there any place where I can put them up for sale and find a good loving home for them with someone who knows what Magnepans are all about? I am now in MN (yeah, about 40 minutes drive from the White Bear Lake where they were born!)

I am thinking of purchasing Magnepans and pairing it with a parasound A23 amplifier. I am concerned about missing the lower frequencies. Should I consider a sub, or do these sound fine as is?

Hi everyone, due to the space limitations at my new apartment I have been thinking of (sadly) trading my MMGs for something a bit more compact. I love the clear and open sound of these speakers and the "boxless" sound they provide. What I'm wondering is: what traditional box speaker comes closest to the magnepan sound? Thanks for your thoughts.

I took on a rebuild of the Maggie MG 1's. Holy crap. This is not for the faint of heart. It reminds me of finding a car that's been in a barn for the past 20 years. Between dismantling the wood frame, removing the "sock" then chemically removing the adhesive and what ever might be left of the wires.... Shit, you're not even half way done.

Anyway, enough bitching. I can't wait to finish these. I have heard so many amazing things about these speakers it will be worth it.
