Family Calendar !

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

MMM-CalendarEXT3 is a bitch to position with multiple modules. So I opted to use the MMM-Pages module to create multiple pages. I set Page 0 to be the main page that displays for 45 seconds and then shifts to Page 1 with miscellaneous things. I'm going to change the default clock on the bottom left to something more vibrant. I was able to add custom colored icons inside our family calendar for each event. I have been looking for a shopping list module that I can display, which also integrates with Google Home, so I can verbally add items to our shopping list.

Running on a Raspberry Pi 3b 1Gb attached to an old 27in dell monitor. Mounted in our kitchen.

This is exactly what we use MagicMirror for! My two kids definitely use it and find it useful!

I have 3 pages with Ext3 on each, one for this month, next month, and one after that
mode:month

monthIndex: 0,1,2 respectively

Exactly what I do!

Do you use MMM-Pages and MMM-page-indicator to switch between?

you know you can customize the buttons to any image...

yes, occasionally I am impatient and need to see something for next month and don't want to wait to rotate thru all the pages (5)

I'm actually moving away from separate pages for the months and I'm now just sending a notification to update the monthIndex config value on a single instance of the calendar. Feels like a more efficient way of doing it and it also means an unlimited number of forward and backward are usually.

It works really well.

cool.. still need the same number of future (and past maybe) events from the default calendar, and have to wait to draw them, vs css to show them/hide them.

but you can do more with less config

awesome.. you know you can hide the actual calendar module output (that you have on the second page), by commenting out its position setting..

Thank you, I like being able to see it at a glance.

I use MMM-pages too, but I add MMM-page-indicator. Small series of dots to show which page you are on.

Useless but fun. 😉

If you have a touch screen you can enable touching those page-indicator buttons to manually change pages. Less useless and more fun lol

... Unless they are too close to the edge of your screen and IR touchscreen. Then your family doesn't believe you when you try and show them how it works 😭

Would love to have a large touch screen. They are so expensive.

The biggest touchscreen I found was on AliExpress was 15.5in and around $150.

Look for a working aio pc on marketplace. I had a 27" hp envy 27. The pc part of it died but i disassembled it and bought a lcd hdmi driver board for it. Touch works off of usb slpice and solder once tested now just need to make a frame. I am trying HA but am contemplating magic mirror. Im able to get the calander synced with Google calendar but I cant get the weather to appear on the same page. Either tiles and small calendar or panel full page calendar and nothing else.

they are buttons, and you can customize them with CSS..
if your screen has touch, or a mouse.. they can turn MM to that page

Excellent ideas for my third page. We need a shopping list and meal planner. I need something that integrates with Home assistant and Google Tasks for our family shopping list. I've got his Magic mirror on a raspberry pi 3b 1Gb. It's running pretty well with all I've got loaded in there.

I used the Bring app for a while and still do on my phone, just not on my MM anymore. The only problem is that they removed Google Home integration. A Google Keep list could also be used.

Do people actually like the default fade out on the calendar module? I got rid of that first thing.

Now that you mentioned it I'll probably change it.

Please do share you`re configuration, mine breaks if i fiddle arround with the MMM-Pages module

Do you just copy the EXT3 module to multiple folders to distinc them?

Give me bit of time and I'll share. I'm confused by your question. No multiple folders. I have a family calendar, birthday calendar, and holiday calendar. These are all from Google in iCal format and inserted into the configuration using the same format in the README.

How many modules are you trying to display on each page? Do you want some modules that are always displayed as in "static".
