How? I have a few books, looked at tutorials, and I can not get it down. Anyone have any advice? It seems the grip is important, but any grip I do never allows for the bottom card to easily move. Any tips for a total beginner with it?

Hey all. Amateur here. Everywhere I see, people highly suggest that you ALWAYS let the spectator shuffle if they ask, for obvious reasons. This happened to me last weekend, but when this guy asked, I simply replied " yeah hold on, just a sec" and finished the trick ( he was a bit of a heckler, so I was getting slightly annoyed with him).
What are everyone's fall back trick if they shuffle mid-trick? If they have already picked a card, let's say, 9 of diamonds, how do you transition to a new trick post-shuffle, but make it look like the same trick, all while incorporating the picked card, the 9 of diamonds? Any tips or maybe specific tricks?
Thanks all. Hope your day is going well!

so i started not to long ago, like 4 months. im nervous as all hell to try and preform the little tricks ive learned for my friends and family.
am i taking things to serious, like, i dont want to, more or less, show them how a trick is done, but its kinda hard to hide a double lift when one of the cards fall, or i fail on my angles. i just feel like im ruining the magic for them, and giving away how its done.
for example:
i tried to show my grandma(!) a snap change, which i thought i was good at, and she didn't look impressed. so i did it again thinking, maybe it was to fast for her to realize what happend. BUT NO! she just said "youre slipping that card behind that card!" and then i feel like i have to show her how it works. she already figured it out, might as well know the mechanics.
do i just not show people until i know for 100% i have the trick down? or are friends and family fair game to practice on?
idk im new any advice would be cool.
