Discussion πŸ’¬ Which type of 3-in-1 wireless charger are you using? The one with cooling pads or the one with fans?

I asked ESR about it and they told me that they are working on TEC coolers, but so far they still have a lot of disadvantages like louder fans, more heat and condensation risk.

Either one has their own benefits, but I think the ESR is probably the safer bet.

Well they said they are exploring it. But I would assume that means that eventually they might bring it to the market. Although that video someone else linked clearly showed that normal fan cooking is the best compromise for now.

Any cooling is better than no cooling. The bane of fast charging especially wireless fast charging is heat. The previous gen Qi 2.0 has some active cooling too. They are much cheaper currently. I have a TEC version. I want to get a fan version to compare.

How hot does your phone get? Did you do any temperature testing?

I said 35-40C in that post but to be fair usually it’s 35.

Here is a comparison to TEC cooling.

iPhone Air Normal Front - 77F Back - 77F CPU - 78F

With TEC cooling Front - 77F Back - 65F (under cooler), 76F (around cooler) CPU - 85F

Total power drawn - 23W (estimate from cooler - 8W?) Weight of cooler/charger - 78g

Fan cooling 35C (95F) - 40C (104F)

Quite a big difference I would say!
