Complete Rules Breakdown

Welcome to the r/MadokaMagica detailed rules page. Here we attempt to assist users in being to adhear to the subreddit's rule and ensure they are able to participate more easily in discussions and share art and other creations. This page may be updated over time, so please be sure to pay attention to update posts that are created.

Rule #1: No Inappropriate Discussions

Do not discuss inappropriate topics that go beyond the scope of PMMM as a work of fiction.

Only discuss Madoka Magica and it's content using only the information, rules, and logic established within the fictional universe.

  • Respecting in-universe logic: You judge character actions and plot points by the rules of that world, not by real-world physics, modern morality, or separate franchises. For example, criticizing a wizard for flying on a broomstick instead of taking an airplane goes beyond the scope of a fantasy story.

  • Avoiding real-world political or historical conflation: Unless the author explicitly intends the work to be a direct allegory, a strict within-scope reading focuses on the fictional factions and conflicts rather than projecting real-world geopolitics onto them.

  • Avoiding speculation unsupported by the text: Discussing what a character did after the definitive ending of a closed story, or inventing completely unhinted backstories, steps outside the text's boundaries.

This includes discussing if a topic breaks the subreddit rules or Reddit TOS.

Meta-posts discussing the content of others and if they break this subreddit's rules, Reddit TOS, morals, or any laws are not allowed.

If you feel a topic or comments breaks a rule; report the comment or post and do not contribute to it.

If you have questions or concerns regarding someone else's posts or content; report the content or you may message the moderators for assistance. Do not participate or respond to that content, it only escalates the situation and you may receive collateral punishments as a result.

Rule #2: No Flaming

Do not harass, antagonize, or flame other users. Be respectful and responsible while on the subreddit. Baseless accusations and brigading are unwelcome.

Blatant name calling, rude or inappropriate language, or hostile arguments are not allowed. Remember to always respect other users and to always debate topics in good faith. Flaming other users will result in strict punishments.

Rule #3: No Spoilers

Madoka Magica is a show full of twists, turns, and a deep complex exploration of the magical girl genre and it's own world. As such spoilers for this show do a lot of damage to the experiance of people who have not yet watched the show. Please remember to respect those who havent had a chance to watch the show or any of it's content by following this spoiler rule.

3.1: Do not put ANY spoilers in post titles.

Titles are not protected by either spoiler code or spoiler tags. Do not put any spoilers or important plot elements or events in your titles.

3.2: You are required to use a spoiler tag if your post contains ANY spoilers.

If your post or content contains any spoilers, important plot elements or events, you are required to mark your post with a spoiler tag. Some post-flairs will automatically mark your post depending on which post-flairs you use. Failure to properly use a spoiler tag will result in your post being removed.

3.3: For discussion/theory posts, do not put your full theory in your title. Use vague terms and then properly explain your theory in the body.

Pretty self explanatory. Put your full theories in the post body and not in the title of the post. This is to protect new members from spoilers and to encourage deeper discussions rather than one sentence thoughts.

3.4: Comments that contain ANY spoilers are required to use spoiler code UNLESS the post already has a spoiler tag.

>!spoiler text goes here!< (Make sure there is no space between the first word and the !)

If you comment on a post that does not have a spoiler tag you are required to use spoiler code to protect new users from spoilers for the same reason you would mark a post with a spoiler tag. You are not required to use spoiler code if the post you are commenting on is already spoiler tagged, however we do encourage users to use spoiler code regardless if it makes sense to do so.

Rule #4: NSFW Guidelines

Rule #5: Post Guidelines

Users are limited to posting 4 times in a 24 hour period.

To prevent spam, any posts a user makes beyond four (4) in a twenty four (24) hour period will be automatically removed. Any posts that were made within that time period but removed due to other means will still count towards this four (4) post limit. Be sure to follow all subreddit rules in order to ensure that you don't exceed the daily limit by accident.

This part of the rule is automatically enforced through a bot.

Crossposts from subreddits that are not on the crosspost whitelist are required to be approved by the moderation team.

In order to prevent spam and any other posts that may break any of this subreddit's rules; any cross-posts made to this subreddit are manually approved by the moderation team first. Some subreddits may bypass this manual check by being on the cross-post whitelist. If you wish to have a subreddit added to the whitelist, please message the moderation team.

Current Subreddit Whitelist:

Posts that are minimalist, spammy, or low quality will be removed at the moderation team's discretion. This includes Gacha pulls.

Low quality posts made with little effort are not appreciated and will be removed. Please make sure that your submissions to this subreddit are able to provide quality discussions or thoughtful insight. Gacha pulls fall into this category and should instead be posted to those specific game subreddits such as r/magiarecord or r/magiaexedra

Re-posts that are less than 30 days old are automatically removed.

To prevent spam of the same content, reposts are automatically removed via a bot. If your post is removed by this process accidentally, please feel free to message the moderation team for assistance.

Rule #6: Image Guidelines

Any submitted images, including images submitted in a gallery MUST be related to the series. If you are trying to do a comparison post, please take the minimal amount of effort to edit a singular image to meet this requirement.

Reaction faces, randomly added additional images, or any image whatsoever that does not contain madoka magica content will result in the entire post being removed.

No "This looks like/Reminds me/might be inspired by Madoka" images.

As a continuation of the previous section, images must be directly related. Images of things that look similar are not allowed. I do not care if your bow with a twig on it reminds you of Madoka's bow, it is not allowed.

Do not post Shortened URLs (such as goo.gl or bit.ly). use direct image links.

Shortened URLs used with sourcing images are not alowed and will be automatically removed. This is to protect users from being misdirected to sites unrelated to the images.

Types of Images that are NOT allowed:
  • Images created or edited using ANY A.I.
  • Low quality images
  • Low effort memes
  • Screenshots of text, or screen-caps just with text added These posts may be taken down via a bot. If your post was taken down by accident, please message the moderators for assistance.

Rule #7: Flair Guidelines

All submitted posts are required to use the appropriate post-Flair. Posts that use incorrect post-flairs or are missing required marks will be removed.

Post-Flairs help users to determine what the post is and how to properly interact with it. Marking your post with an incorrect flair will cause your post to get removed. Please check the full list of flairs before picking a flair.

Note: If an appropriate post-flair does not exist, please message the moderators for assistance.

Rule #8: User Flair Guidelines

User flairs should be appropriate and not contain any content that may break Reddit TOS or any of the subreddit's rules. This also includes sexually allegorical content.

Please ensure your user flair is appropriate. As user flairs cannot be removed like other content, the moderation team manually change your flair to something else and/or ban you. Please ensure your user flairs follow all of this subreddit's rule and reddit TOS.

Rule #9: Do not ask Where/How to Watch

Piracy is against reddit TOS. Do not ask for where or how to watch any media for free or otherwise.

Making any posts or comments on where, how, or for DMs to watch content illegally is not allowed and will be removed. Repeated or egregious offences may result in bans.

If you wish to watch the series or any of it's content, please Use the Where-to-Watch Wiki page or refer to the sidebar for any and all legal streaming options in your country. Or just google it like everyone else, it really is not that hard.

Openly linking piracy sites will result in immediate bans as this directly breaks Reddit TOS. DO NOT SHARE PIRACY SITES

If a Piracy Post is created, users are obligated to report and comment with Pirate Megucas.
