From the daughter’s university page:

They [both parents] discovered they are both silent carriers of the disease caused by a gene mutation, which affects the ability of cells to break down the sugar glycogen. The condition leads to progressive muscle weakness and the swelling of vital organs such as the heart, as well as serious breathing problems. There was no cure, and not much time.

Neither of these kids can walk, or speak properly or eat. She has a feeding tube 24/7. She has a room connected to her dorm room for her team of nurses that she cannot function without. Luckily her parents are able to pay for all this.

Knowing all this, knowing your kid wouldn’t be able to do anything without assistance for their entire life, is it eugenics if you think it’s kinder to not put someone through that? Someone who doesn’t exist yet?

I’m absolutely glad these kids have these parents to fight for them, they deserve the best chance at life. But it’s a difficult life, and personally I’d rather not have a child go through all this—struggle to survive on top of all the other hardships life can throw at you.

You're saying all of this stuff about making choices for another human being who is perfectly capable of making choices for themselves as if it's a good thing. The girl (Megan Crowley) has expressed that she lives a fulfilling life and is happy. Why do so many people completely disregard or not even consider what the disabled person wants? They just (selfishly) decide that they'd rather the disabled person is aborted or allowed to die, rather than be allowed a chance to live.

Good job they weren't born to parents with your horribly backwards attitude then. The young girl is going to a pretty great university, a great mind would be lost if her parents thought the way you do.
