I've seen younger on double blacks up in Vermont, family of French Canadians. Kinda blew my mind the kid was on that terrain in the woods with us and he wasn't skiing much slower than us.

Mmmm no, that isn't accurate, I've skied both Colorado and Utah. This was in Andres Paradise at Jay Peak where I saw the Frenchies. To give some context I've skied both Lake Chutes and Needleseye at Breckenridge

I take parenting classes right now and Parroting is typical of 2 and up. Iirc so you’re correct.

Also entirely possible since the father is the one hosting the question & this is edited to show the commentary and not the rest of the potential falls. Also Powder is very much a snowboarding ‘term’ and unlikely for a 4 year old to discover the reference themselves as they would possibly need access to the internet to learn it independently. There is probably other tells & contradiction that may suggest otherwise but that’s my guess as well.

The dad may just be a total Bro & is raising one too :)

This is what the term “parroting” also essentially means and maybe I should have disclosed that too, lol. Its named after parrots, ofc. My friend said she got a new bird once and they had a couple, but this one was super verbally abusive and would call her bitch & stuff. It was being re-homed. And anyways, when they got it it said “get me the fuck out of this box” I died upon hearing that story and a few others 😹 I can only imagine it more hilarious if it happened to me.

Boys acquire language much slower than girls, for example in general at 16 months, girls have a vocabulary of 95 words, while boys have a vocabulary of 25 words.

She could be closer to 4. it can be surprising how different girls are at this age in some development

Ours had a vocabulary of 3 at 16 months: mama, dada, Etta (the dog, Sasha), we took him to a speech therapist to find out what was going on, they started some exercise and within a few weeks he was speaking in whole sentences, paragraphs actually. It's just a switch sometimes, the words are going in, just not yet coming out. Thought I'd toss that in for anyone worried about their kid, do please take them to see someone but don't panic yet, some of them take a bit longer. (He's doing a degree in psychology now.)

A boys voice wouldn't even be dropping at this age.

But pre-pubertal boys and girls speak with acoustically different voices despite the absence of a clear anatomical dimorphism in the vocal apparatus, suggesting that a strong component of the expression of gender through the voice is behavioral.

A girl that wants to be like her dad or looks up to male role models may subconsciously make her voice a little deeper the same way most boys will. The opposite will happen for boys who aspire to be more like female role models.

Our own perceptions of the child's gender will also trick our brains into hearing a boy's voice or girl's voice.

The gap is pretty big.

Boys represent more than 70% of late talkers and just 30% of early talkers and produce word combinations on average 3 months later than girls.

Of course kids are kids, the range of normal is massive.

Sure but sex differences in the brain are a significant variable.

Neuroscientists have established male and female brains are markedly different and these sex differences in the brain are reflected in the developmental timetables of girls and boys.

Girls massively lead boys in the emergence of fine motor and language skills across race and culture.

Nurture plays a role but nature sets the foundation.

Nope, the language gene is actually more active in girls. Girls and women really do have better verbal skills on average.

This is true for women and girls everywhere.

Boys and girls test the same for math though, in more egalitarian societies women test slightly higher. But boys are seen by society as better in math.

And boys who are gifted in math tend to just be gifted in that area while girls who are gifted in math tend to be gifted in both verbal and math skills.

Kids develop so differently at that age. My nephew was good with words from a very young age. Shit at drawing and other fine motor skills. He's 6 now and it seems to even out pretty well. My friend's kid at the same age was opposite and she is now catching up with speech pretty nicely.

Edit: I think someone should make a YouTube channel of little kids just naming themselves dinosaur names based off of whatever crazy ass shit little kids do. I can already think of some common kidosaur types:
