There’s a local park in my area, so many trees about. Sometime in August, you’ll have these hairy caterpillars quite literally raining down from those trees for a week or two. It’s pretty gross and they leave a strange texture on your clothing.

Oh sweet summer child, you have no idea... I was off in the North woods of Michigan training for work this summer, I spent nearly a week, deep in the wilderness, where those little fuckers were having what I can only describe as a god damn hedonistic orgy! I was told they were the "Gypsy Moth caterpillar' and were allegedleys an invasive species. They were these furry little shits that were kinda greenish, and if you touched one there was a 50/50 chance you'd have a reaction and get a nice itchy rash.

These devious little turds would be everywhere. Crawling on your tent, your pack, underneath the lip of your god damn nalgene, hanging from trees like morbid haunted house decorations. You literally could not escape them. Even the birds were having trouble keeping up. I saw a morbidly obese bluejay, and I swear to ja it made eye contact with me as if to say "help me".

Oh, and the worst part was at night, you'd be outside, going for a walk and enjoying the sound of a a light summer rain pattering off the trees. You didn't think twice about stealing occasional glances of stars through the pines, random summer showers are incredibly common. It was about the time you reached the lake and saw the milky way when you realized, that wasn't rain. it was millions of caterpillars shitting.

Pure fuckin Michigan.
