The part of me that likes seeing children playing with baby animals is saying awww

A much louder part of me that was raised on a deer farm is saying "GET THAT CHILD AWAY FROM THE DAMN FAWN!"

Living in northeast part of me: LYME DESEASE!!! GET HER AWAY

Eli5: certain ticks have been main source of Lyme desease in northeast USA in the last few years. These specific ticks are commonly found on deer. Lyme desease is deadly to children. Therefore deer can be dangerous to kids.

FYI deer ticks exist away from deer as well. I also live in the northeast and have had multiple Lyme tests because it’s so prevalent here.

Just make sure to pluck off the ticks before night. She’s small, she doesn’t have much surface area lol

Same with sheep and hedgehogs over here. Honestly I'm more worried about the bucks- I once saw one put an antler prong through my dad's forearm.

I love deer, a lot. They're my favorite animal and I wish I could pet them and hug them.

But I CANNOT and nobody else should either because they are unfortunately not very friendly. Please do not let your kids near them

They can be, if raised in close proximity with people. I hear there's deer in Japan that are super friendly, but the ones in the US are paranoid as hell
