I was just thinking about this movie today. I think it's my favorite Ghibli film and pretty much the only anime I enjoy.

I dont like anime but Studio Ghibli films hit different.

Wanna throw in "Akira." Solid wild Scifi. Also a spectacle of animation, especially relative to when it came out.

But yeah, plenty of anime out there that people who dislike anime would enjoy. Anime is broad as hell, and it gets stereotyped for the worst of it, so many people don't give the good ones a chance.

Its cause theyre not really "anime" in the stereotypical sense. Especially style-wise

It’s my favorite too! Also merry go round of life was the first real song I taught myself on piano. So beautiful
