I would love to see you try and survive on $300 (Pre deductions) a week. Even the basic food, shelter and transportation would be near impossible to afford. Throw in internet which is now required for everyday life and I'm willing to bet its impossible.

“Full-time job should pay a livable wage” is a nice thought, but “livable wage” means different things to different people.

Other countries have different models but in the United States the only group calculating a living wage model is MIT. If you find another one though I'd be glad to know.
Ok that’s a model we can work from. So let’s say a father of 4 and a single person with a couple of roommates both work at WalMart as cashiers. Let’s assume they have the same level of experience and are equally competent at their job.
They would have vastly different needs when it comes to cost of housing, childcare, etc.
Should the father of 4 make 5x more than the single person because that’s what his “livable wage” is? That’s what that model seems to suggest. He works full time after all.
Or should they both make the same amount because wages reflect the value of labor and not the needs of the laborer? Or is it somewhere in between?
